Tonight the 49ers take on the Cardinals. I know Ron Rivera hasn't been fired yet. This is just a hypothetical thread to let some of you guys know who could have potential the be the next coach of the Carolina Panthers if Ron Rivera is canned.

1. Greg Roman- He is currently the Offensive Coordinator for the 49ers. He has previously been OC at Stanford with Harbaugh. He has ties to the Panthers organization because he served as an Coordinator under Dom Capers and George Seifert.

2. Ray Horton- Currently the Defensive Coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals. He spent 7 season with the Steelers working as the DB coach. Horton is in his second season as Cardinals DC and has a top 10 defense in the NFL. NFC personnel executive on Horton: "He's going to be impressive during the interview process. He's very smart and confident and he has the ability to relate to everyone."

3. Brad Seely- Currently the Special teams coach for the 49ers. Seely jumped to the professional level in 1989 working as a TE coach for the Colts. He then spent the 1994 season as Special teams coach for the New York Jets. In 95 he spent 4 season as the special teams coach for the Carolina Panthers. He spent 10 season as the Special teams coach for the Patriots under Pete Caroll and Bill Belichick.

4. Vic Fangio- Currently the Defensive coordinator for the 49ers. Prior to being named the 49ers Defensive Coordinator,Vic Fangio was defensive coordinator for Stanford, linebackers coach for the Baltimore Ravens and defensive coordinator for the Texans, Colts, and Carolina Panthers.

I don't wanna hear the college coach or style of offense excuses. Chip is a great coach with and awesome attitude and philosophy of the game. Anyone who thinks he would bring the exact style offense he runs at Oregon is an idiot.

Chip and Cam would click immediately and Chip would know exactly how to use Cam in his offense, while introducing a pro style running attack.

And don't even get me started on his discipline defense-wise.

I think the team needs a player's coach--a guy who is a leader, a guy who is tough and not afraid to take chances. A guy who gets the most out of players because he expects it, demands it, etc. With young coordinators and a young Qb in the Big Ben mold, I really think Cowher is the best choice if he is interested.

He will have bad contract issues to deal with--for several years under his guidance, the Steelers lost free agents to other teams-they had a low payroll. He reloaded.

Cowher and the Steelers knew when to dump players, but they always had a loyal base without overpaying. They were progressive and innovative.

Imagine Greg Hardy with Cowher as his coach. A different player. Apply that logic to Cam Newton, Sherrod Martin, and Sione Fua.

Remember how Steeler players would leave Pittsburgh and go to other teams and suck? Why was that? Cowher.

Maybe we would sttart wearing Black at hiome.

I can understand that but we don't know if he will want to make that jump. I want a offensive guy to be our next coach but I just prefer to have someone that is a Offensive Coordinator in the NFL.

The only college coach I would give a hot shot to be our Head coach is David Shaw at Stanford. I think Cam can flourish in a west coast offense. That offense will give him quick reads and to help him deveIoped a great intermediate passing game.I know that David Shaw is not Jim harbaugh but he worked with Harbaugh for a long time at Stanford. I think if anyone wants someone that is close to Harbaugh David Shaw is that guy.
