Creepy Music Video

I don't know how many of you are rap fans, but if you're not, there's recently been a lot of conspiracy theory talk around rap in general... Especially when it comes to big names like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rick Ross, and the like. If you have time to waste, you can look up all of the crap that has been put in popular artists' videos over the last few years.

It really is getting out of control. I used to be a Jay-Z fan... Not anymore. I thought Kanye was a musical and artistic genius prior to his last album... Not anymore. If my iPod runs across one of their old songs I usually just change it now.

Anyway, I was also a huge fan of Kid Cudi, an artist heavily associated with Kanye and Jay-Z, prior to seeing this video... No longer a fan now and probably won't be listening to his music anymore...

This is the video slowed down to save you the time of watching the regular video, in which you won't be able to see all of the imagery he put in there. It's pretty creepy:

You stop being a fan of artists because of weird music videos? Are you kidding me? They're musicians, not directors.

The fact that you now dislike musical geniuses like Cudi and Kanye because of a video or two is absolutely absurd and stupid, IMO. I just don't get it, music has nothing to do with the videos.

It's because of the things they are putting in their music AND the videos. BTW, Cudi actually directed this video, so he did have complete input on what went into it.

Did you see how many symbols and images he put in that one video? He could be trying to be cute because of all the idiots wanting to scream everything is a conspiracy with secret society symbolism in their music every time a new song comes out... But, that just seems like overkill.

It'd be different if they came out and said what they're about and then let you make a decision about their work. But, I find it disturbing to put things like that in your video and flash them throughout to where consciously you can't process what they are in real-time.

Not to turn this into Tinderbox material, but I've stated my beliefs elsewhere on the board numerous times. I'm far from perfect, but it's jacked up that I can't enjoy music because someone I find to be a talented artist puts crap like this in videos and makes me re-think whether I should even listen to them anymore.

And Kanye had a gift from day one, but he's a different dude now. Just as Jay-Z changed around the Black Album. Kanye's entire Runaway video is based on Gnosticism, but he's not telling his young and impressionable audience that. Instead, they're taking all of that in unknowingly.

I'm just saying... Why do you have to be sneaky about it? Be up front and let people make a decision on your work from there... Unless you have a reason to be sneaky about it.

AND YES, that Puttin' On The Ritz video is among the creepiest things ever. So is the video for Cars by Gary Numan.

I love Tool as well, but not for the lyrics... frankly I ignore them and focus on the music.

They're pretty much a big FU to religion, christianity in particular.

used to be more that... now it's more open, lateralus is more gnostic and 10,000 days is actually about maynard.

aenima is pretty nihilistic though.

I mean, I don't understand it, but to each his own.

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
