Randy Couture vs...Steven Seagal?

Steven Seagal challenges Randy Couture to a no hold barred fight, Couture responds

UFC Hall-Of-Famer Randy Couture recently joked that he had no plans on returning to the Octagon, unless of course it was against someone like movie star Steven Seagal.

"No, I think everything I set out to do, I managed to pull off, and it has been an amazing journey for 15 years." Couture told G4TV's Attack of the Show "Not unless (Steven) Seagal wants to sign up."

At the end of the comment, Couture smiled and laughed.

Seagal, a 7th degree black belt in Aikido, did not find the comment very amusing however. In fact, Seagal was offended.

"I always thought that Randy was my friend and a gentleman," Seagal told The MMA Hour. "I'm kind of confused as to why he would say that. All I can say is, I'm here. Anybody can find me anytime and anyplace. If Randy really wants to fight me, he can fight me anytime he wants. It'll be for free, and it'll be some place where there are no witnesses. I don't play by rules. That's not how I fight."

Following Seagal's no holds barred challenge to Couture, the former UFC champion was reached for comment and responded:

"I'm the one that started the joke as an off-handed comment I made to Jay Glazer - that I'd only come out of retirement if it were to fight Seagal," Couture told CagePotato. "Obviously now somebody has talked to him about it and it has gotten some legs. I'm not surprised that he wants to do it in private, remote location where nobody could see it happen. Obviously I intended it as a joke. I don't think it would really happen."

Umm....

Seriously, I see that Seagal is a 7th degree black belt, but can he really fight? I mean, we know Couture can...

Ask Gene LeBell, if you remember that story.

If not, just search "Steven Seagal, Gene LeBell" and you'll see what I mean.

While you're at it, search for Seagal and Bob Wall too. Also entertaining.

    • I don't think he did it to spite Bryce. Seems like Bryce is a truly decent guy that virtually everyone likes. I do think Frank likely preferred Stroud and was either was led to believe or deluded himself into thinking that he would have a lot more say in the direction we went at QB in the draft. Once we decided on Bryce knowing Bryce didn't fit his system and preferences in a QB it really seemed like the wind went out of Frank's sails and he basically started mailing it in and just waited to get fired and paid out. Maybe I'm misreading the whole situation but that's certainly the way it looked to me from the outside looking in.
    • Again, it may have nothing to do with Bryce Young. The coaches are thinking about the whole roster. Many guys have said how much different this off-season has been not having to start from square 1 with a playbook, language, etc. You’re talking about bringing in a guy to lead the 2nd team offense who they now have to spend time teaching. Every team is different. This team is young and developing across the board and trying to find some positive continuity. With how Morgan and Canales have approached everything I’m fairly certain they considered all possibilities and decided it was best for the overall team to roll with Dalton for now. They value whatever it is they feel Dalton brings over the extremely low probability of whatever washed out, journey man, reclamation project developing into a franchise QB. You and I have no idea why and aren’t there in the meetings, but it’s clear that the FO sees this young failed franchise QB project as less likely to pan out than you do.
    • Frank justed wanted to throw Young to the wolves because he wanted to draft Stroud. It was a big FU to Tepper and that is why he only lasted a few games before getting canned.
