Cam wearing Jake Delhomme jersey at practice

Jake had that special magic from 2003-2007. It would consistantly show up. Pending Tommy Jone is banned from the facility, maybe Cam is looking for some of that special something.

Plus, I think he wore it in practice prior to Atl didn't he? Maybe he is supersititous.

I wish people would give Jake the respect he deserves though. He flamed out at the end of his stint here and I was definitely ready for a change but he gave us all a lot of good years and memories. I hope he gets the chance to retire a panther. In our short history he is one of the better players to walk through the doors.

There was an article a few weeks ago that mentioned this: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/11/29/3696247/panthers-cam-newton-finds-its.html

In the past week, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has worn Joe Adams’ No. 15 jersey and Jimmy Clausen’s No. 7 on the practice field. Thursday, he practiced with his red No. 1 jersey on backward.

Why? Newton says he’s finding places to have fun as he tries to lead his team to a second consecutive win for the first time all season.

“It’s just something to have fun with, to see yourself in a different jersey number,” Newton said. “It’s kind of like comedy for practice just to change the vibe a little bit.”

    • Most teams OLs are dealing with injuries at the end of the season. So by that token all QB play should be horrific across the board, but it's not.  Using the OL as an excuse anytime a QB plays bad is just lazy.  This is the same OL when Bryce had his good games not so long ago.  So do they suck just when Bryce does bad? Obviously they played well enough when y'all were doing your victory laps and saying 'you told us Bryce was the man' in the victories. It goes back to my stance with Bryce all along...he's a low end starting QB.  He'd be a great backup. Bryce is going to have a few really nice games a season at this point in his career, with a few WTF games mixed in, but very middling overall.
    • Good Lord! I bet the O-line play wasn't the worst since 1980.  And @thebdawg, injuries absolutely can make for a bad showing at the end of the day. That's not an excuse, it's just a fact.
    • Defense stepped up after that and held them to a FG. Offense proceeded to turn it over on downs right after.  Was it an incredibly dumb penalty, of course it was. The defense played their asses off though and got zero help from the offense. If you force them to punt at that point instead of the penalty do you really think the offense does anything differently?
