If Shula is OC, I vote Chris Weinke for QB coach

Weinke is only the head of the Football department at IMG, which has only been in existence since 2010, whereas IMG itself has been there since 1978.

It's not like he owns the company or anything.

He stands to make a shitton more money in the NFL coaching architecture than he does running a 5 week football camp for IMG.

How much more money? Let's get some real numbers in here. Right now he has a heck of a lot more security and a heck of a lot less responsibility than an actual NFL coach.

Not that he didn't already make a shitton of money riding the bench in the NFL

He runs a 5 week football camp, and does some private coaching on the side. Ohhhhh and they announced they are going to coach a high school Football team at IMG this year.

Yeah man, he totally has more responsibility than an NFL coach. GTFOH

Edit: I missread what you typed about responsibility. Sorry.

Security yes, but depending on the salary, he could make in a few years what it would take him a decade to make at IMG. So what's really more security?

I doubt that you can find out how much he makes at IMG. Assistants and position coaches in the NFL average around $250K - $350K. Some receive much more (think Sean Payton as QB coach and Asst HC in Dallas), and some of the less experienced receive closer to $150K or $200K.

Presumably Weinke wouldn't see much of a bump in salary to start with, but if he wanted to get into coaching where he might move up the ranks quickly to an OC, then he could be enticed by future earning potential.

    • My read is they intended to try and get points but that first run and usage of the clock was done to hedge against things going poorly. Basically they shouldn't need all that time to score since they had multiple timeouts. Dirting that second play put us in a no-win situation. Sure you can run on 3rd down but ARI had timeouts so they still likely get the same result.
    • Anyone catch Adam archuletta referring to him as a “young qb” like bitch this is year three players are in the Super Bowl by now.
    • I never said he had a good game in the Denver game.  As you said we had a good first drive ending in Bryce throwing a slant to XL for a TD.  It was garbage time but the back shoulder throw to Coker for the late TD was a great throw.   Throws like these in bad games are why I say he "can" do it and has the physical tools.  The question is can he do it consistently, continue to improve, grow and become our QB of the future.  Up to this point that was a hard no but with a new head coach and Bryce in his 2nd year it was 100% the right call to play out the year and see if he got better.  He did.   Two games into this year is still more of the up and down quality of play and coaching but there is still plenty of potential and we have 16 more games to decide if it's worth it to continue down this path. I don't know what will happen but I know cutting him or benching him now makes zero sense on any level. I said of those last 10 games we were only blown out in 2 of them.  I'll concede the Denver game was a blow out.  So 3 blowout loses and 7 competitive games, 4 of which we won, all decided by less than a TD.  Sounds like a team growing, improving and getting better.  All I want to do is see where that leads and if those examples of starting NFL level quarterbacking can continue to improve and become more consistent.   Anyone with pride would retire?  Laughable.  Do all of you quit in your daily lives every time things get tough or don't go your way?
