278's first mock

Hard to know exactly what we need right now (besides the obvious OL help) considering we don't know what kind of offense we will be running, but heres a swing at it just to see how some of you more knowledgable types feel about these prospects and where I have them projected.

Round 1 - Chance Warmack, Ala OG 6-2 325

Not much too say here. You hate to see a G go this high, but this is a sure pick and immediately addresses a glaring need.

Round 2 - Johnathan Jenkins, UGA NT 6-4 365

A very deep DT class could help us land a 1st round talent at NT in the second. This is just a massive guy. His size in strength in the middle is what we need to make sure Kuechley and Hardy continue to improve. Should also help take pressure off of Big Money, and maybe we could finally cut Fua.

(Round 3 - Barret Jones, Ala C/OG 6-5 302)

Coming off of foot surgery, if he is still around this late we need to mortgage the future to get this guy in tow. People say he can play tackle. Whether he can or not his versatility is sorely needed.

Round 4 - Dion Sims, MSU TE 6-5 275(I've seen everything from 273-285).

Spotty background check should help this productive combination of size, speed, and skill fall down peoples boards. May not be around in the 4th but if he is he is he could be that physical presence over the middle of the field with the skills and speed to play out wide as well.

Round 5 - Xavier Rhodes, FSU CB 6-1 215

Big fast corner. Would probably be a first day prospect, but durability issues could cause him to slip. Love the pick in the 5th if he's available. Gonna need some work, but he already plays smart and has good upside.

Round 6 - Conner Vernon, Duke WR 6-1 195

A bit of local flare here, but watch this guys tape. He is a smart subtle player that is just a reliable target and had a prolific career playing under the radar at Duke. Has great hands and seems to have the speed to make a difference. He could be an excellent 2-3 option and will be better than I think most think. Would raise the IQ level of the receiving core greatly.

Do you have us getting a 3rd rounder somehow? Also, doubt Barrett Jones is there

Not crazy about a TE in the 4th

Xavier Rhodes in the 5th? What? Did he murder somebody and I not hear about it?

Trade for a 3rd round only if you get "your guy." If Jones is already gone then don't trade for the pick.

TE can be a major weapon these days, and we know Cam loves throwing to them if he has two good ones. Sims is no sure bet but you have to love that upside considering he was very productive this past season for MSU. Some teams won't want to take him because of his history, but you hope the fact that he was reinstated this past season and stayed out of trouble is a sign he has grown up a bit.

Just counting on teams being afraid of the injury history with Rhodes considering there are a lot of good looking DBs this year.

Barrett Jones can play tackle at a high level

"Despite earning first-team All-SEC honors (and third-team All-American accolades by the Associated Press) in 2010 while at right guard, Jones was asked to move to the all-important blind-side tackle position in 2011 and starred there. He earned the Outland Trophy as the nation's top lineman as well as the Jacobs Blocking Trophy (SEC's top offensive lineman) and was a consensus All-American."
