Players you'd be happy with drafting at 14

for those who want warmack at 14. would having him at rg make bell better at rt. just a curious question. it would make me love the pick more

Not necessarily but it would bring some type of stability to the line as a whole. The interior of the O-Line would be locked up for at least the next 3-4 years. A big part of OL success is continuity and chemistry, which is something we've lacked for a while.

Personally, I would prefer to go tackle in the draft, if we go OLine in the 1st, and pick up a quality OG in FA that is capable of playing across the interior like Donald Thomas.

No you would have a player at RG trying to learn to be a pro and a player at RT who couldn't teach him because he's doing the same thing. Poor Kali would have 2 players on both sides he have to worry about.

Not many are. I would feel better with vet beside Bell and not add another young player that will take longer to gell on the line.

true. walterfootball just posted a new mock and its actually what i think will happen if we dont trade back. They have us taking Kenny V at 14 and jesse williams in the 2nd. i will lose my mind if this happens. Can you imagine how good our D would be? Rivera wanted Mark Barron last year and since this could be his final year im sure he wants to go defensive again

A Vaccaro/J. Williams combo would be ridiculous. Our defense would instantly be a force and if both of those guys were to play to their potential in their rookie years I think we would be a playoff team.

If that were to happen, I'd hope we would address the guard position in the 4th and possibly pick up another guard and a corner in free agency.

    • If we don't go OT, we will regret it.  What bothers me?  Are we going to get a starting-caliber OT at 19?  I think the draft is solid at OT, and the more I read up and watch video, the more I watch Lomu, the more I want him.   I see Freeling as a RT who needs some work in run blocking (since we need to run first, maybe not a good fit) and I see Proctor ending up as a Guard.  After Lomu (assuming Mouigia and fanu are gone), I think we wait until round 2.  In round 2, there are about 3-4 I like (Zuhn--good pass blocker and VERY underrated right now; Tiernan is a very good pass blocker as is Miller from Clemson, but both are not good in the run game.  Max Ixxxxx from Ariz St is impressive too---technically, there is not a of difference in these second tier guys--good in pass pro, need work in the run game.   If we wait until round 2 for an OT, we probably need to sign Nijman and start him early.   I almost think this is what we should do if Lomu is gone.  There is a big dropoff after him, imo, and I think we'd get better value if a stud ILB or edge is there.  Someone like TJ Parker Clemson makes sense. If Lomu is gone, trading back might be the play.
    • And what is x gunna help with except show him what not to do. Plus for the first year and a half he was just an obstacle
    • I understand that some people want WR. I am solidly against using yet another high pick there. Coker is pretty good and we used No picks on him.  What I think we really need at WR is a little bit of a Smitty lite. It is ridiculous to say let’s get a Smitty because you just can’t do that, but someone not tall and long striding but more in his mold. I think we’d have a pretty well rounded group.    Looking at tackle, with replacing Moton looming, it just seems like the no brainer.  You fill in Icky short term. Depending on how he recovers, and how the new guy plays, you go from there. A tackle at 19 is most likely either a LOT, a ROT, or a big talented guard, at worst. We will need all three in the next couple of years.  I would love to have a stud ILB be there at 19 but the OL is the responsible thing to do I believe.
