Nerlens Noel vs. Ben McLemore vs. Shabazz Muhammed.

It is an almost certainty that the Bobcats/Charlotte Hornets will have a top 3 pick in the NBA draft. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out which route that we need to take.

My personal drafting philosophy, in basketball and football, is to take players with extremly high ceilings. I love potential.

I will admit, I haven't watched much on McLemore, but it seems to me that he is in the mold of a Ray Allen, best case. Which is awesome if that what he ends up being.

But, I am just so damned intrigued by Nerlens Noel. The potential to have a big, super atheltic 7 foot shot blocker is so wanted. He is so raw, but with limitless potential.

Shabazz Muhammad seems to have a lot of the tools of an NBA super star, but I am not sure if his jumpshot is as consistant. Also, read about his post game reaction to larry drew hitting the game winnner. Not sure what to think about him.

I am leaning Nerlens Noel just because dominant defensive centers are so valuable and rare

What say ye?

McLemore! Not even close. We better get that no.1 pick bc McLemore is going first. I'm not going to settle for a Noel, Shabazz, or Zeller.

McLemore has superstar abilities that will have instant impact for this young team and toward the future. Someone like a Lebron, Wade, Kobe, KD that becomes the face of the franchise and an every year AllStar player.

Bazz, Noel, and Zeller will be very good players but not All Stars.

I agree.

Noel steps in and from day one is a top 10 defensive center in the league. So it's not like he is just potential.

If you think mc's ceiling is ray Allen or Kobe. Then yeah you pull the trigger. But if he is basically Bradley beal then I'd rather take the big man.

I'm not anti mclenmore by any means. We have just had a huge hole in the middle for years. And Noel could plug that.

I am completely against Shabazz at this point.

Noel, to me, can become a tremendous C and one of the best in the game. He can do everything except score. Good passer, terrific ball handling for a big, block shots, get steals very well, and run the floor. He does it all. The scoring will come and when it does, he will be the most complete C in the league.

McLemore is a guy that really intrigues me. He can light up the scoreboard when he is on. He also has shown the ability to create his own shot at times. My only problem is that he seems too similar to Hendo with a better long ball but not as good of a mid range. Crazy athletic, but not aggressive enough for it to matter most of the time. Above average on ball defender.

1. Noel: I think we need a big man this draft because I feel like the wing players are deeper in the 2014 draft.

2. Shabazz: I am on the Shabazz over McLemore camp for a few reasons...

a. Shot Creativity - he has the 3 ball, mid range jumpers, post ups, floaters, pretty much every shot out there. Think about it, how many times do we have the ball with 5 seconds on the clock and one of our PGs have to create something. Now we would have another player to do that as well!

b. Mentality - I loved the fact he was pissed he didn't get a chance to take the last shot. We need somebody who needs to be #1 or has that mentality. Being selfish isn't bad in the NBA.

3. McLemore

a. Love his spot up jump shot! Its money

b. Love his athleticism

c. Don't like his shooting with pressure coming at him and he needs to put the ball on the floor

What happens when Kemba pulls up for the game winner? Shabazz will pout because he didn't shoot. I don't think Bazz and Kemba can coexist. And it's not because Kemba is selfish.

You gotta be trippin to have the nerve to compare McLemore to Hendo.

I wouldn't even let Hendo eat McLemore's poop.

Kemba should let another guy if it is Shabazz to take the winning shot. Haven't seem much of Kemba winning the game in the last sec since his Uconn days.

McLemore is more Allen than Beal. I thought Beal was a very good prospect last year but damn McLemore is 10x Beal.

    • I am gonna believe it wasn’t us if the 4th round pick price is accurate. We needed 225 points to get from 19 to their pick. 875 at 19 to 1100 at 14.  Our 2026 4th was valued at 56 points I think. A future 4th has less value. So that wasn’t close to enough.    It would have taken our third and our fourth. Comes within a point of even.    Now, moving to their spot in the second round we could have done but after Miami took Rodriguez why would we?
    • Yep,and Blake Miller have had more experiences than Freeling,Lions did not sigh a vet T like Walker,so they had to pick Miller.
    • I mean it's expected.  This is the NBA.  And they hate the Charlotte Hornets.  Flagg was also the guy "magically" given to the Mavs who lost Luca to the wildly popular Lakers.  Was always an uphill battle.  But the award is BS since it's not voted on before play-in starts. Kon probably lost because of the play-in as many people switched votes.  It was a regular season award, so this is some nonsense.  Kon also didn't have the luxury of taking 10 games off to rest up injuries like Flagg did.  If he did, he wouldn't have been nursing his back the last month.  I mean, screw him for being on an actual playoff team that matters.  Flagg took tons of shots a game, he was wildly inefficient.  Kon was a huge reason the Hornets made the play-in and turned the season around after Jan.   I think Flagg will probably be the better player long term, or at least the most impact.  But Kon should have won ROTY.
