So... maybe I'm in the dark here, but just who is Seth McFarlane and why/how did he get the Oscar gig?

I'm not referring to just the song.

He's got what, four or five animation shows he created running, and every one of them is the same garbage jokes again and again, most of which run too long anyway. I've seen all of his shows and never found any of them worth so much as a chuckle.

Matt Groening? Mike Judge? Those guys can do hysterically funny animation. MacFarlane? He's crap.
