"We aren't in a win now situation like Denver or like Miami who has to make a big push or risk losing all their fans."

I must respectfully disagree with this statement. First of all, as long as this guy named Peyton is playing QB in Denver, they'll have no problems keeping the fan base excited. Second, Miami is making major strides in the free agent market and have already improved their team far more than expected.

Carolina was able to keep some of the fan base with the Newton draft, but following the JR lockout debacle, a couple mediocre seasons and Marty Hurney screwing the team's financial situation for another 3 years, I think the Panthers are right on the brink, if not already going over the edge, of losing their fan base. Keep seeing more and more opposing teams' fans in the stadium? Having a hard time recognizing anyone sitting around you at every home game?

This is usually a good sign the PSL owners are selling their seats. And since the stadium is full of paid for seats, the number of fans in the stadium is no indication of fan support. The true indication of a loss of fan support are the numbers of tickets being scalped away any given Sunday morning... and there are a ton of those.

Agreed with above poster, and the quote at the top couldn't be more wrong. Have you been to the games? The only game I made it to this year was the Denver game, and was shocked at the number of orange jerseys. And this is for a team on the other side of the country, and I doubt that many people have come to Charlotte from Denver. We haven't made then playoffs in 5 years. Getting rid of Fox was supposed to be the beginning of a new era, and we suffered through the last 2 seasons because it was supposed to be cleansing the team of Fox. Now we're supposed to suffer through another 2 seasons to cleanse the team of Hurney? Let me guess, Rivera struggles with this terrible roster, gets fired, and we have to wait 2 seasons to cleanse the team of him? It's an ongoing cycle.

It's only gonna get worse unfortunately. Pats, Giants, and Jets games will be 50-50 or worse in the stands. This franchise and what's left of the fanbase can't stand 4 more years of submediocre football.

Saying that, when I went to see Panthers at Chargers I didn't feel like an outsider. Surprised to see just how many Panther's fans there were so far from S.C. Granted, we're one of the lesser supported teams but if you liked the Panther's at one point I don't see people jumping ship right now.

There may be more fans where you are than in SC, period.

But you aren't local and, therefore, your perspective is clouded...by about 2500 miles. The reality is the Panthers are nearly as relevant as the Bobcats... and the opinion of the vast majority of the sports fans in this area is "Why pay any attention to a perennial loser when I can watch Duke or UNC basketball and ACC football is getting better every year?"

As of March 1st they weren't....

The saddest part about that image is that outside of the Cardinals, Raiders, and Rams: All the other teams on the last two lines have experienced the post season over the last 2 or 3 years.

Just goes to show how truly poor this franchise has been run since the Arizona playoff debacle. At least teams like the Saints, Steelers, Falcons, Niners, Giants, and Texans can look at thier money as being well spent.

    • It’ll be extremely hard to bring an elite coach into this dumpster fire, not to mention having to deal with the Teppers.  So yeah, fix the QB problem and then deal with coaching if need be.
    • Somebody get the Jim Mora gif ready in 3….2…1…. For those of you who care, the path to the playoffs is really clear cut and Sundays game against the Rams nor Tampas games against the cupcakes they have remaining factor in really at all.    In all likelihood the only way the Panthers are playing in the second week of January is if they win the division.  The loss to the niners did a lot of damage to any wildcard hopes they may have.   The formula to win the division is pretty simple. After the bye week, if Carolina wins their final four games (at NO, vs Tampa, vs Seattle, and at Tampa) they are NFC South Champs. In that scenario, they finish 10-7 and the Bucs best possible finish would be 10-7 as well. The Panthers would win a tiebreaker with a 5-1 division record.    Ironically, the late season bye comes at a perfect time. Get healthy and try and win four in a row.    With Canales outsmarting himself at every turn and Bryce putting up QB numbers not seen since leather helmets were worn, the thought of winning four in a row seems almost impossible, but, we at least go into December in the hunt.
    • They are definitely out there condemning Canales and absolving Young.  Which, condemn Canales if you want but then leave Young responsibility free? Nah, that is just Bryce fanning.
