It is easily forgotten that this team with JR+investors as owners existed before 2001. And all the sh*t the organization went through then! What is happening now is nothing, nothing compared to that.

Jerry's big mistake was how he handled the lockout and the team/coach prior to it. It's going to take years to get past all that. It took the 49ers 10 years to get out of their cap hell and they didn't win much while going through it.

I have been saying this for years and years and years. It's not a pro team atmosphere at home games. That is why people "cheer" as they do, sitting quiet while on defense and cheering loudly while on offense. And why many, many people don't cheer at all (alumni aren't supposed to cheer, students are). And the Panthers seem willing to let it continue that way.

Our stadium atmopshere is the result of all the real "Carolina" fans are teenagers or 20 something year olds....everyone else was brought up on a different team. It will take awhile before the "real" fans grow up and become the PSL owners.

If that is the case then why was the stadium atmosphere so much better in the 90's? It keeps getting worse as the "real" fans get older.

Yep. Even with the star power of Cam the last two years have been pathetic. Last year was absolutely pathetic and 2013 will be worse with the teams we have coming to town.

the kids who are brought up to eat and breath Carolina have to become PSL holders....and that time just isn't here yet. I was raised on The Posse and the Skins and am 32.

The young franchise thing has to be dropped. After 18 seasons it's time to come to grips with the fact Charotte is a bad sports town. People would rather go to Petsmart with their kids or have brunch with their church friends. And if they do go to the game you certainly can't expect them to get there on time or stay until the end. That just asking too much...

It was new in the 90's, made it electric, high emotion for fans & players. And we did so well for an expansion team it was easy to get caught up in the games, to outsell the opponent's fans. No one talked "it's a business", fans didn't care. The players from that expansion draft were eager and thankful to be here playing football. They had give-aways every game, every season. More stadium contests, less ads. Sir Purr use to shoot t-shirts into the stands. No anonymous text complaints. No bank loan needed to eat at the stadium. My PSL cost has doubled; my salary hasn't.

And they did the Macarena and YMCA dances at least once every game. :mp3:
