Keenan Allen to work out with panthers April 9

Kkl slots are supposed to be sure handed....that's why i always thought Lafell was a possession guy. Also PFF says that Lafell ran more of his snaps from the slot. It's nothing wrong with being a slot imo, it's just that the Panthers need a deep threat.

I don't have a problem where you line him up and I can see you bringing in somebody to take over for Smith as the Number #1 wr. I'm not crazy I don't think Lafell could ever be a Number #1. But to act like he can't be and isn't a good number #2 is stupid.

Then you have a idoit like Chuck calling him a "body Catcher"

Does this look like a "body catcher"

Yeah there's really no merit to the no-speed thing. Most of the best receivers in the league are 4.4 guys while the undersized 4.2 guys people here seem to think we should be targeting (GOTZ TO FIND SMITTY 2.0!!!!) bust pretty much every single time.

Lafell is a career number 3 barring some unforeseen explosion. Maybe ten years ago he would've been a serviceable number two but it's not the same game no matter who wanta to try and resist that.

Being a number 3 isn't an insult in today's league, but you have to have a couple of guys that can beat double teams and make big plays consistently without one of the most dynamic players of all time sucking away all the attention on the other side.

The best WR ever was a 4.6 40' guy.

That's your opinion.

With more targets and oppourtunities he can be a great number #2. That's my opinion.

As long as we grab a WR with one of our first two picks, I'm easy.

I'm with the crowd that for some reason feels we're gonna end up taking Allen.

I'd like us to look at Nuke and Terrance Williams long and hard though. I think they are two that will excel in the league.

Overall, I sense many people are looking for mad explosiveness after being used to Smitty for so long, and ideally want to pair that with height. That type is few and far between.

^ People love to ignore Jerry "The Greatest WR" Rice 40 time. LOL

Yeah people lose that Fact when they have SPEED SPEED SPEED on the brain.

They also don't notice that most of the Hall Fame WR weren't speed demons.

Chris Carter

Art Monk

Steve Largent

Marvin Harrison

Weren't all that fast.

I never said he wasn't good. and he's come a long way from with his catching ability.

But he's not shown anything to prove he can be a solid #2.

And again I ask is that the Scheme or the player?

Again take the time and look around at all the read Option and Pistol offensive teams. Then tell me All the Jaw dropping numbers you saw from their WR corp.

89 only had 4TD this year. We all know he is a better player then that.

Larry Fitzgerald and Brandon Marshall and Stevie Johnson aren't burners either, still all good WRs.

Of course WRs weren't as fast back then. Were RBs built like LBs back then too? It's the evolution of the game. Players are going to get bigger and faster every year.

Some of the best WR in the league today aren't that fast.

Fitz is a 4.6 guy.

Boldin is a 4.7 guy.

Marshall is a 4.6 guy

Colston is a 4.7 guy.

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
    • You gonna make me post Stank before every game?  I kid, I kid.
