Domenik Hixon will visit Monday

I can say this with a certainty. It is going to be fun to watch the battling for one maybe 2 spots. If Hixon is signed. Make it 1 spot. I think one guy will really show off. I hope it is Gettis.

Each player has their reason why we retain them. I also like Pilares.

AE is odd man out. I think every player in this group has something over him. He had is chance and one big play in 3 years is just not enough to give him a leg up. I think that play was an OMG they actually threw it to him, play.

From what I've read, the agenda for Hixon's actual visit is tomorrow. He only arrived in town today.

Could be news tomorrow. I'm hopeful, but I'm not holding my breath.

Let's hope. If we sign him, the easier for us to go BPA in the 1st, and safe WR for the 2nd round if we really have to.

I know I'll get some argument, but I think it's quite possible that BPA at our spot might actually be a receiver (Tavon Austin, to be specific).

I agree actually, I'm just saying if someone falls unexpectedly(like Star), it'd be nice to be able to draft multiple positions and not be cringing at our selection of WR. I really do think Tavon might be the pick though, and honestly I expect us to actually draft 2 WR. We've been looking at too many mid round prospects to think we'll only get one.

I'll be honest, I'm not in love with Austin as a prospect. Yes, his speed and explosiveness is intriguing. But, measuring in at 5'8" at the NFL Combine worries the hell out of me. Yeah, yeah, I know... Smitty is 5'9" blah, blah, blah. But Smitty is Smitty. He may be 5'9", but he's strong as an ox and has a ridiculous vertical. He plays a lot bigger than 5'9".

I'd be nervous drafting a 5'8" WR at #14. Especially with a big armed QB who tends to miss high when he misses.

DeAndre Hopkins is the WR I want.

Smitty is smitty because he was given the time to develop after no coach wanted to give him a chance at wr because of his height. The same can be the case for austin, he may just need time to develop into a smitty type of player.

At this point I'd actually rather wait and take Quinton Patton in the 2nd and go DT or OL in the 1st. I just feel the value is better. Plus, I don't expect Patterson will be there at 14 and I'm not entirely sold on Tavon Austin.

I'd take Austin over Patterson. Patterson completely terrifies me. So, so raw.

O-Line in the first isn't a popular option here.

Obviously, I'd be okay with it :)

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
