How does the Revis trade impact our draft?

Just went on some Jets forums. Cooper/Warmack is the popular pick, but there are quite a few Austin supporters too. This trade definitely sucks for us, no way around it. The Jets have more needs so they can grab more of our guys.

The Bucs were likely going to go either DL or CB. The Jets will likely go WR, OLB, or CB, perhaps Geno if he's on the board. The biggest impact will probably be Star Lotulelei related; a lot of mocks have had him falling to TB recently, and the Jets have two very good 3-4 DEs and are apparently content to stick with Kenrick Ellis as their NT, meaning he just may fall to us. But that's a big maybe.

No way they take Austin.

They have a huge gap at Safety and RB.

Mingo and Vaccaro/Lacy/Franklin if they can't trade down.

The Jets are an unquestionable threat to take Austin. The Jets offense was in woeful need of playmakers last year, and there is none better than Tavon Austin. They drafted Stephen Hill (although we certainly know not everyone in the organization is a fan of him), but he's a primarily vertical threat, as is Santonio Holmes. Kerley showed nice development last year as a slot guy, but I don't think anyone would stand pat on him in place of Tavon Austin.

Simply put, the Jets offense needs explosive power, Tavon Austin brings exactly that. Of course they have glaring needs elsewhere so you certainly can't pencil Austin in, but you in no way should discount him either.

    • The OP for one. Asserting that people blamed Bryce for the loss in the title of the thread. That was not the prevailing sentiment at the time this thread was created. Very much a minority thing, I don’t remember but maybe one person if that, putting it on Bryce as the main reason. Troll thread. Did a good job too. Look at the pages.  Someone counting up the draft picks as 10 on offense and 10 on defense or whatever the number was, today or yesterday - of which the offensive ones were heavily 1s and 2s and the defensive picks were heavily day 3 and declaring that proof that the offense wasn’t favored like people claim. The obvious neglect we watched for two years. I spent time refuting that bullshit because someone needed to.  People saying we are bad horrible people and hate poor lil Bryce for no reason, as if it is a personal thing. Constantly.   Along the same lines is people saying we non Bryce fans would rather lose than have him play well and the team wins. That we are mad when the team wins   Point illustrated.
    • Might not have been in this specific thread... As far as the other, I'm not necessarily reading every post that isn't responding to me so I don't think I saw that. Mind you, we've certainly seen the "not a real fan" stuff on here before.
