A couple serving probation for the 2009 death of their toddler after they turned to prayer instead of a doctor could face new charges now that another son has died.

coming from a deep fundamentalist religious tradition i've never understood the logic behind praying for your headache to go away, taking an aspirin at the same time, and then praising god for making it go away through the power of prayer. if prayer is so powerful why take the aspirin in the first place?

Negligence leading to the death of someone else's child? Better believe your going to prison.

Negligence leading to the death of your own child? Your rights as a parent to raise your child as you choose.

I think there is a logical disconnect here. I think it was Bill Cosby who joked about it, but with every passing day, year, and news story I seriously think there needs to be some sort of a certification process for parenting.

i can't tell if you're advocating this position, or restating that side of the argument generally???

And you'll never know for sure, either...

lol. psych. I am stating their argument to show it in stark contrast to the case of people with less inherent responsibility yet strangely more accountability for the well being of a child as to invoke ridicule, criticism and general "bitch you crazy?" sentiment towards these moronic (so-called) parents.

A flood is expected to wipe out a small town and evacuation is begun. A jeep is driving through town and comes across a guy standing on his front porch. “Hop in,” they said, “The flood will be coming in any minute.” “Don’t worry about me,” the man replied, “I have faith that God will save me.” Unable to change his mind, they drove on without him.

Soon the flood waters began to roll in, and a rescue team drifted by this man’s house in a boat. “Hop in,” they requested, “We’ll get you out of here.” “Don’t worry about me,” was the man’s reply, “I have faith that God will save me.” Unable to change his mind, the rescue team continued on without him.

Not long after that, the flood waters had completely covered this man’s house, and he was hanging from the chimney. A rescue crew in a helicopter spotted him and dropped him a ladder. The man refused the ladder insisting that God would save him. Unable to change his mind, the helicopter went on without him.

The water continued to rise and the man drowned. On his way through the pearly gates, he met up with God and exclaimed, “You really let me down! I had faith that you would save me and look what happened!” “Well let’s see,” was God’s reply, “I sent you a jeep, a boat and a helicopter.”

    • Why are Vikings fans acting like we peed in their cereal?
    • I’m actually fine with our TE group. I would like to see us upgrade at ILB, maybe safety and CB.   I think we are good at WR. I thought Corley could have been a good player but I guess he wasn’t doing good at all.   I came across this article about Corley from today. I know sometimes a change of scenery can really help turn around a player and we’ve seen plenty of players from the jets end up being good other places. I just don’t know if Corley is that guy.   https://www.newsweek.com/sports/nfl/jets-insider-shares-embarrassing-fact-about-malachi-corleys-release-2119816
    • I was really rooting for him after seeing that video about his struggles. I always thought he was a solid and underrated player.   I thought for sure he would have made the team after hearing all the hype and how he made that overthrown catch by Plummer behind the line and still was able to gain a yard or two off it. Plummer really overthrew him each time yet he was able to still not lose yards. I think he still could play in the nfl. I think he may need a few months to get into top form though. Hopefully he will get signed to another team.
