Was Kawann Short a case of...

BPA. From what i heard from Gettleman the inconsistent motor came from Short playing 92% of the snaps. That is insane.

Was really pissed at first, but man oh man is this line gonna be fun to watch for the next 5 years or so.

Pretty much this 100%

I didn't like the pick at first because "WTF another DT" and everything I had read about Short said he took plays/series off.

After watching GDog's presser and hearing that he played that many snaps I felt a lot better about him. Also, while this pick may seem a little meh right this second, next season it will probably look brilliant.

Side note, I fuging love that Gettleman breaks players down in detail during his pressers.

Star didnt impact Short at all. We needed studs at NT and UT.

Short was the best UT in the draft that the FO liked alot.

Was a no brainer.

Please don't go there. Less than 2% of the Huddle understand 3 tech vs. 5 tech terminology. UT vs. NT has many you are debating Utah compared to Nevada Tech players.

Don't even begin discussing gap assignments.

this is a 2-3 year rebuilding project. it's smart to get the DTs early since they take longer to develop. we won't be very good next year but this draft will pay dividends further down the line.

I say we are a contender. Adding those two picks already help the defense as a whole. Our offense can still put up top 10 numbers right now. It's just a bonus that we got two dope dts that will develop into great ones

    • Chuba was 3 yards behind the 3 gap. He was lined up weak offset I. It was a 33 dive. Chuba needed to power through off of Ekwonu's block and slip off into the 5 gap where the Tremble had the lane sealed and Rick pulled the LB out of the 5 gap. Here's a visual if you need proof. Chuba did a jump cut laterally to the 2 gap on the right side with unblocked defenders crashing down and went airborne.   This is a 33 dive that should have been slipped off the block into the 5 gap. Chuba lacked vision, but you can see Rico and Bryce staring at the intended running lane sealed off by Tremble and Ekwonu. He should have read Ekwonu's block. The blocking and misdirection is NOT set up for the right side. The play worked. Chuba failed to execute on this play. Trust who you want to, but I wouldn't suggest you argue with the video. Anyone telling you this was drawn up to go right with the blocking did not analyze it. They are correct it should have been a called dive, and it was a called dive.  This was a weak offset I bringing Tremble in motion from the right to the left.
