Rolling Stone Poll: Ten Worst 90s Bands

AIC hate maks one belong on the list.

apologies to the lovers of Bush but Machinehead..green to red.. real deep.

LOL Machinehead, was obviously not lyrically stimulating, but I enjoyed listening to it getting ready to play football back in my childhood.

But, Comedown and Glycerine were great songs.  Also, Razorblade Suitcase had some nice songs as well - Swallowed, Greedy Fly.

I'm just saying, they seemed like a "transitional" band to me and they played their role well.  Definitely not among the worst of the decade.

And while we're discussing best/worst, I'd also like to nominate another band for one of the best of the 90s-00s and it's Everclear.  They made some amazing stuff...  A lot of their songs were extremely deep and poignant concerning social issues and it was often extremely introspective as well.  Now, they did have a couple of cornball pop-sounding fillers, but the bulk of their work was meaningful.

I don't know how Mr. Belding thinks AIC's later albums were horrible. Jar of Flies and self-titled(tri-pod)? Jar of Flies is probably my favorite album by them and that is saying a lot. I never listened to the newest one since Layne died so i have no idea what it sounds like.

But man classic songs on those last couple of albums.

the "tri pod" album with the bright green case, imo, is where they started going downhill. i will still listen to Grind on occasion, but I thought the rest was pretty bad.

I did love Jar of Flies though

that was the last album before layne died so it is understandable. I haven't listened to the one they came out with a couple years ago, because i know it just won't be the same. Tri-pod had grind, heaven beside you, sludge factory, God am, Frogs. Great album, didn't think it was bad at all. But personal preference. I still throw that album into my CD player from time to time.

Jar of Flies was on another level though. A completely unique album that mixed jazz, funk, grunge, and folk all in one. Amazing album from Layne's vocals, Sean Kenney's drumming, Mike Inez funky bass lines, to Jerry Cantrell's solid guitar playing. Layne's vocals were some of the best I've heard from him though imo.

Well I just found a whole new level of respect for you SCP.   Tool is one of my favorite bands of all time. Lateralus is in my top 5 greatest songs of all time.

I'll add a tool song from their early recordings.

Tool is probably my favorite of all time. Hard to pick my favorite song.  Maynard is unreal.  Then I had to wait half the late 90's for a new album to come out and Lateralus was worth the wait. I remember hearing Schism on the radio for the first time when I lived in Jacksonville, FL.  I blew off a sales call to go buy the CD.  I enjoy A Perfect Circle as well.

My 8 year old likes listening to this one with me.
