Gettlemen continues to get criticism for not bringing in a WR

Well Hopkins is already a starter on his team so your a little behind, but ill take your wager what's your bet?

Hopkins is already a starter before training camp?

I'm struggling to think of a poster here with a bigger hard on for one player than AB..

I refuse to continue on this subject until somebody addresses the fact that Steve Smith is the only WR worth anything under contract past this season. Everytime I bring this up its ignored. So who wants to tell me what they think the Great Gettleman has planned.

Considering this is page 27, I figure this has already be said, but just in case...

Let's just assume that we had money to spend in free agency, which we didn't, but here's the free agent WR's for this year. http://walterfootball.com/freeagents2013WR.php

Is there anybody one that list besides Cruz who you'd actually want for the price they'd demand?

So that leaves the draft. Was there any WR on the board in the 1st you'd want over Star? Same goes for round 2. Any WR that would be an instant upgrade and worth more than Short in the 2nd?

I'm sure Gettleman would have liked to addressed it more than he did, but he played the hand he had. He brought in some mid-level guys who he hopes can contribute, and he he hopes one of the WRs on the roster develops (we have a bunch).

Did he really fix the WR issue? Not really. Could he have given the constraints? Not without sacrificing e.g. not taking Star, or cutting players to free up space to sign one of the crappy overpriced WRs of this free agent class.

Multiple people havve asked this. AceBoogie wanted Hopkins over Star or trade back into the first for Hopkins.

If we could have landed Star and Hopkins this year it would allow us to focus on a LT next year. We put ourselves in a bad position with an aging LT and #1WR with no replacement already on the roster.

I know Nicks gets brought up a lot and I would love to have him but I think the Giants find a way to keep both and I also believe they value Nicks over Cruz.

The only way we could have gotten Star and Hopkins would have been giving up several picks.

You laughably talk about Gettleman being no different from Hurney but want more idiotic trades?

If you look at next yrs FA list then you will see odds are high that we can sign an LT and spend the draft focused on WR and secondary! And here is the kicker, there is actually viable no.1 WR in next year's draft!

There were a few in this draft but we can agree to disagree. Where is the money going to come from for a top tier LT or WR? Still have Cam's extension and Hardy's.

How could we get a LT in next years draft? Because most likely we would've had to trade our 2014 1st to get back into this years 1st...

Off the top of my head the ones available that I would look at next year are...

Hakeem Nicks

James Jones

Jacoby Jones

Golden Tate

Mario Manningham

Jerome Simpson

Jeremy Maclin

    • I'm super excited about the guys we're getting back, and fortunately this year, outside of Robert Hunt, we haven't had any season-threatening injuries. Rico has earned the start, but I am excited to have both available.  The team is finally turning into the run-first team Canales said he wanted to be. As for JT Sanders, I think he has lost the most be being out. He is probably our best receiving TE, but with the emergence of Mitchell Evans & with him and Tommy Tremble both absolutely balling in run blocking, it will be hard to fix something that isn't broken. I'm hoping Turk Wharton can help with our pass rush. We really havent gotten to see him much due to injuries, but we desperately need anyone to provide some pass rush juice, which is what he was brought to do. I'm the most excited about Jalen Coker returning. Theilen may have been the most clutch last year, but I've watched a lot of film, and Coker was the most consistent WR we had when he was out there last year.  I think he can be an ideal #2 to Tmac. While Coker doesn't have the raw athleticism XL does, his route running, savvy, and overall football IQ simply make him better.  I think with the fact Coker can play both outside and in the slot will give our pass game more versatility.  We have been running a lot of 2 TE sets, and I think Tmac & Coker should be the primary WRs for 12 personnel. The other WRs (XL, Tremayne, Renfrow, & Horn) all have roles, but I dont think any of them can fully replace what Coker can do. I do think Renfrow will be inactive this week if everyone is healthy bc of how valuable Tremayne is for ST and as a run blocker. So happy that we are playing meaningful football heading into November. We are still almost certainly a year away, but we are absolutely moving in the right direction
    • Better than a fragile starter, though
