Extending Greg Hardy now would be a big mistake.

Recommended Posts

I would be shocked if we don't make a concentrated effort to re-sign Hardy. Gettleman definitely believes in the Giants philosophy of building a strong d-line and pass rush. The first time the Giants beat the Pats in the Superbowl they had 3 great D-ends Strahan, Tuck and Umenyiora. The second time they beat the Pats they had Tuck, Umenyiora, and Pierre-Paul.

Could are three be CJ, Hardy and Alexander?

First of all, 8 users pie'd that comment. Would you like to let them know that you think they're 12 too? YOU FEEL VALIDATED, DON'T YOU?  Because I'm sure they would all really give a flying fug what you think. DID YOU NOT ASSUME PEOPLE WOULD CARE WHAT YOU THINK WHEN YOU SO CLEVERLY AMBUSHED A THREAD STARTER?

Second, don't tell me what to do on an Internet message board lol, what are you a fugging kindergarten teacher? Wanna give me a timeout and a spanking because I called my classmate fat?  ONLY A DICK WOULD DO THAT--I IMAGINE YOU KNOW THAT ALREADY.  IF WE ACTUALLY WERE FACE TO FACE, I DOUBT YOU'D HAVE THE BALLS TO RUN YOUR MOUTH AT ALL.  IF YOU DID, YOU ARE CORRECT.  I WOULD PROBABLY SPANK THAT ARSE.

And do you honestly think you're contributing meaningful insight by trying to act superior over me right now and cluttering this thread with a lame ass Internet fight? How dumb can such a mature adult like yourself be?? JUST TROLLING A TROLL.  YOU DO NOT SEEM TO LIKE IT.

It's way to fuggin early to be getting bitched at by someone who isn't paying me or giving me pussy, so why don't you go back to contributing your meaningful insight and taking life too seriously, k brah? WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK TO THE SAINTS BOARD--PEOPLE WHO DO NOT GET PUSSY INTERACT THERE.

Stupid thread = stupid comment  AGAIN, THIS IS NOT WHERE DICKS PRACTICE THEIR CRAFT.  THERE IS NO ATTACKING OTHER POSTERS.  GROW UP OR SHUT UP.

Wow.  You found 8 people as immature as you are.  Congrats, Troll.

It's a tough decision, no doubt, but I think emotion is getting in the way of business. Hardy is one of my favorite players on this team, he has it all. Power, speed, athleticism, passion, motor, etc. to be an elite DE. Combined with the ability to slide all over the line, he makes himself a true Gettleman kind of defensive lineman, IMO. That being said, you have Big Money on one side, two potential stud interior linemen, and Alexander (who was a value pick much like Hardy, though not as good) sitting in the trenches. Hardy should blow up with the additions of our draft picks and a second season of Kuechly, and I'm sure he will get paid properly.... though not CJ money. I just think of the Beason contract, the Morgan contract and many others where you toss the money out pre-season, and then are left licking your wounds if God forbid they get hurt, and hoping they return to form, while your money is tied up in a cloudy situation. Getts just came in and cleared the books of albatross contracts like a ninja, and I think in year one of his reign, would be hesitant to put big money out there for what really is one year's worth of production. That being said, I know Hardy was a first round talent that has lived up to what he was supposed to be on the field and I personally want him here for the long term terrorizing the NFC South. I think Gettleman has this attitude/confidence/personality that players feel comfortable with and as long as we stay in touch with his agent ensuring that Hardy is wanted here, I think we will be fine. It's business and players, on some level, understand that.

Well to your point about injuries after an extension that could happen anytime so it isn't something you can worry about. But if you structure contracts properly it isn't an issue. I mean look at the eagles and the dream team spending spree they cut most those guys and their cap is fine because those contracts were smartly put together.

Who thinks we jumped the gun on Beason and should have waited to extend him.  If we had, we wouldn't be so stuck now and wouldn't have paid him for 2 years for little production. What if the same things happens with Hardy??  There is virtually no reason to extend him early.  He won't take less right now and will want a big contract.  If we don't want to pay him, he will  simply let the year play out and take the chance on himself this year like Flacco did in Baltimore.  So extending him now won't get him for cheap as some think.  He will want a big payday either way.  At least if we wait until January and pay him big bucks he will have earned it.

Besides, who says we haven't had preliminary talks.

Keep the D young and intact people. sign the man. Then we can play with the offense only next year in the draft. The panthers are going places.

I'm pretty sure we knew about Beason's injury (at least one of them) before signign him right?  We DEFINITELY knew about Morgan's.  Those were just bad decisions by a GM that is long gone.  I don't think this is the same thing.

IMO, you pay the guy.  He's going to be even more of a monster.  Now he has (hopefully) legit DT's in the middle, with CJ on the other side?  Good luck.  This has potential to be the best Dline since Ruck/Buckner/Jenkins/Peppers, or even better.  It's worked for the Giants and, we just happen to have someone that was apart of that.   I don't think anyone has brought up Hardy's ability to get in the passing lane and deflect passes either (all the other attributes were mentioned though).

Not to mention this guy has a big motor, and plays like he enjoys it and gives a crap, unlike Peppers when he was here.  I think Hardy loves the fans and caters to them, I mean, who doesn't love the Kraken persona?  You're looking at a guy that not only could be a great player but also a great character/marketing guy for our team, get us a little exposure, which never hurts anything.

Show him we want him and maybe both sides will get a good deal.  Being proactive may look like a sign of loyalty to Hardy and may even gain us an even better deal.
