Still makes me laugh...

Oh man, that a great moment. I was SHOCKED that Star was falling to us. When we turned in that pick that quickly, I just knew it had to have been Star. Great.. friggin.. night.. I was just glad that Richardson was off the board to ensure we didn't get him, lol. I didn't think he would have been a good fit for us

My sixth sense tells me that our pick wouldn't have been Richardson regardless. I feel we would have picked DeAndre Hopkins had Star been off the board.  We would have still picked Short in the second.

Our pick was Eifert if Star wasn't there.

I am not going to wish that the Richardson pick turns out to be a blunder because that would be wishing bad luck for him. From everything that I was reading at the time, Richardson was a great fit for the Jets, and Star not as much. I didn't expect them to pick Lotulelei.  I was more surprised that they picked Richardson over Floyd.  No one expected Floyd to fall out of the top 10, but several people had Star falling to us. Now, yes, I think Lotulelei is a better fit for us than Richardson may be for the Jets from what I was reading, but Richardson has the capacity to develop into a fine player for the Jets,

The memory of hearing the words "With the 13th pick, the New York Jets select...Sheldon Richardson"

No lie. I really did 'laugh out loud', and I'm still laughing.

If ESPN ever does another video of Jets draft blunders, I hope that clip deserves to be on it.

we would have liked to see you in the chat room, Scotty. Us barbarians we're having a good ol time that day. It was memorable for me, hope you join in next year.

    • Rags lost again. All is right in the hockey world.
    • He’s responsible for two drafts classes. The first was one of the worst drafts I’ve ever seem. The second one is showing a ton of promise. I’m somewhere between skeptical and hopeful on Morgan.
    • I'm a big fan of Dan. His ability to find productive players deep in the draft will pay off.  I'm going to give him 1.5 draft classes right now, because I do think it's a little unfair to evaluate his first year when he got the job in January, especially when we went into that draft not having a first round pick.  XL and Brooks are still big time TBD players. Both still have incredibly high ceilings, but both have also given us legitimate reasons to have a lot of pause. Trevin Wallace, Chau Smith Wade and Jatavion Sanders have IMO outplayed their draft position early in their careers. That's a great thing. He also got Coker and Demani Richardson as UDFAs that year. Given the situation we were in, I really don't mind the gamble on the high ceiling guys. Still may work out, still may not, but if you made a checklist of ideal situation for an NFL GM to walk into, ours was near the bottom of that list.  Every single 2025 pick is contributing in some way. That typically doesn't happen. I am absolutely blown away by this draft class 6 games in. Even the best GM's miss on occasion, and we can't expect Dan to be 100% on drafts moving forward. Ryan Fitzgerald was an excellent find as well.  Comparing our last two drafts to the previous few is pretty shocking. Can you imagine this season without our Rookies? It would not be good. Additionally, this roster only has 6 players with more than 6 years of experience, and two of those are specialist.  The next step is equally important, and still very much TBD. We have to avoid Cap Chaos.
