Rich Cho on WFNZ

Mac Attack interviewed Rich Cho... highlights below:

- Not shopping MKG, they have gotten a lot of calls on a few players and listen to all offers, but like MKG and aren't shopping him as reports indicated.  Also indicated that the teams rumored, they have had no discussions with. (He basically debunked the MKG rumors)

- Asked if the Bobcats would stay at 4, Cho laughed and said #4 is a popular pick.  Said they are looking at moving up, moving down, trading for future picks, young players... said they are exploring absolutely all options.  He didn't show any cards...

- Asked about Anthony Bennett... Cho gave a vanilla answer not indicating where he would be on the Bobcats draftboard....good answer.

- Asked about free agency, he said they are open to signing a big free agent but the last thing they are going to do is sign a bad contract just to bring a guy in.

- Asked about Dunlap firing after just one year, he said they didn't realize that he wasn't a good fit until he got the job.

- Asked about trading into the 2nd round with no picks currently.  Cho said they are looking for another 1st round pick as well as adding an additional 2nd round pick.

- Cho indicated that MKG asked for a shooting coach, they brought in a lot of guys and Mark Price has a previous relationship with Clifford and was comfortable with MKG.

- Asked who makes the call on the draft picks, Cho said, it is a collaborative decision between 7 scouts, Rod, Rich, & MJ

- Asked about Biyombo after seeing him for a couple of seasons, Cho said they haven't lost any faith in Biz, he was 10th in the league in blocks, his work ethic is off the charts and he thinks that he is going to be a better player next season for sure.

- Asking about the feedback from Bobcats to Hornets, Cho said he didn't realize how big a deal it would be for Charlotte until after the change was announced and said the feedback has been unbelieveable.

Also with the Price coaching hire..he was excited that he would help Kemba off of pick and rolls which was Price's specialty in the NBA with Brad Daughtry.

Also In regards to Olaidipo he said " he will be a good player somewhere" May have shown cards there.

Tenders to Gerald Henderson and Mullens will be decided on immediately after the draft.

Later the reporter(cant remember the name at the moment) who broke the (MKG being shopped) news held firm to his multiple sources and said the trade involved a future first and a player which Barnes is in the discussion. The Bucks, Celtics, Hawks all offer multiple picks and a player.

Said that the Tyrus Thomas draft pick to the Bulls becomes unprotected in 2016 looms large in this decision. Signs point to the Wizs drafting Bennett which will have the Hornets draft Otto Porter ....MKG will be flipped for assets to offset the lost pick to the Bulls and gain players. According to him.

Makes sense now.

I'm thinking Bobcats draftboard top 4 are:

1. Noel

2. Bennett

3. Porter

4. Len

I think if McLemore is available that we pass on him.  His stock has been dropping ever since the season ended and has had more than one bad review on team workouts.

I wouldn't doubt that there have been talks with BuzzCats receiving calls for MKG, but that's different then adamantly shopping a player and calling other teams to try and get a deal done.

Very true Rick!

I would hate to give up on MKG but even in an interview with Wally Sczerbiack he was bery cautious on being able to fix MKG's jumper anytime soon.

What are The Hornets giving up to get back in a weak draft..

Ill just be happy with draft Len and say goodnight!!

don't know- Cho said he wanted a 2nd 1st rounder and a 2nd round draft choice..

maybe we do move back with the Timberwolves for #9 and #26 and get D.Williams

by tomorrow night we could have

Derrick Williams

Zeller at #9

Bullock/Crabbe at #26

Kemba/Sessions

Hendo/Gordon/Bullock

MKG/Taylor

Williams/Zeller

Biz/McBob

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
    • I'm not so sure. Something about the whole Frank/Bryce situation seemed off from day 1. Bryce didn't fit Frank's QB mold as well as Stroud, then he basically gives up when Bryce is named starter in preseason but gets virtually no reps in games. Then he looks completely unprepared and Dalton steps in in Seattle, has a decent game under immense pressure, and it's right back to Bryce. All his mechanics are terrible and he's having the worst rookie season ever and Frank doesn't bench him?  You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to know Bryce wasn't ready to be a day 1 starter. Everything with Bryce, then coaches, and the FO seemed forced.
