OJ Mayo

Sounds like the mavs won't be able to afford him especially if they sign Dwight. Since we need a good shooter would you be interested? I'd like to see us go after him but have yet to see us potentially linked to him. If we go big man tonight I think oj would make a great signing at the right price. What says you?

If he's cheaper than Henderson and that's why we couldn't GET Henderson, then I say sure.  I just don't think OJ is any better than Henderson so I'd rather keep Hendo for a reasonable contract.

I agree, I also think Hendo is a better defender

Oh yeah Hendo seems to be underrated by our fan base in general.  I want him here.  He's a tough guy that won't whine or take plays off.  I hope we can keep him AND McRoberts.  We need some grit and energy.

Hendo's only issue is health.

I believe OJ is much better than Hendo offensively. He's a guy who can go and get 30 some nights and take over a game. Defensively, he's not as good as Hendo and not aggressive enough. Anyway, I don't think we're goin to be able to convince any big names to come play here. Same go for guys like Millsap and Jefferson. Can't see it happening.

I'll admit I don't know a TON about Mayo, but from looking at his stats I'm not sure he offers us a huge upgrade over Hendo, even offensively.  I'm not challenging the fact that he could take over a game, but we need a consistent scorer on this team.   Hendo can be that, IF he stays healthy, and that's the big IF.   I pretty much dislike Duke, so I can't believe I'm trying to get us to keep Hendo and McBob lol.

I don't really know much about Mayo either, however I do remember him putting up 30 on us in one of the first games of the season, then he put up 22 on us just a few days later (I was at that game, and that was the first time we ever beat Dallas, it was a special game; especially because it went to OT).

I also want to resign Henderson (unless we can get J.R. Smith). I payed quite a bit of attention to the BuzzCats during the last two months of the season because my college classes were starting to wind down and I remember Hendo destroying opponents in the last two months. I was at the game against Boston when he dropped 35 on them as we absolutely crushed them. Oh and by the way, he scored 35 points in only 37 minutes of play. If he would have played the full 48, he would have dropped 45.

    • What you are saying isn't always true and I'll give you several examples to demonstrate this. 1) The best player on the board at the end of in round 1 by all consensus is RB (top 15 player in draft who slips b/c of the devaluation of the RB position). Your team is in desperate need of a LT because the current one is getting your QB killed. You already have a serviceable RB in place. The LT has a 2nd round grade and you have the first pick on day 2 of the draft Who do you choose? 2) Your run defense was abysmal the previous season. A DT in round 2 does not provide much in terms of pass rush, but most reports have him rated as the best pure run stuffing DT in the draft. The two highest rated players on your board at the time are a TE and tweener at OLB/DE who slipped into round 2 after a run on WR's. Who do you choose? 3) Your pass rush rush is solid across the board. You even have guy coming off of the bench to provide production. Your secondary in below average. No Safety on the roster is a difference maker and as a unit the squad doesn't have an INT. The highest rated player on the board is a DE. The 5th highest rated player on the board is a an intelligent ball hawking Safety. Which player would make the team immediately better?  1) I think the BPA logic applies when your team is solid across the board and you can afford to draft for depth 2) I think it also applies when your team stinks and any solid player will be an immediate upgrade over what you already have. I agree that you should NEVER reach for a player when you are need at a position like we did for Bryce Young. But I also think if there's is a player on the board that will fill a glaring weakness you need to take him even if a player with a higher over all ranking is available at another position (which isn't a need)
    • Bryce Young excels at dividing Panthers fans. That seems to be what he's best at.
    • 184 yards game, 61% completion 11 tds 5ints    thats ranks :check notes:  25th in the nfl
