More Cam talk on NFL Network

LOL.

I like the Colts Rookie QB. But he was not better in a crowded pocket during his rookie season than Cam was. Not in a long shot.

Have you seen, checked his stats, and actually watched him play?

First you alluded to that 'Cam only has straight ahead speed'. Now you're saying that 'Andrew Luck, is a natural in the pocket'. Good Rookie QB; yes. A natural, or appeared better than Cam during his rookie season (or even his second); no! Not at all.

I'm sorry to say, it appears you're going off of 'presumed' notions and generalities, instead of actually watching these QB's play.

Please, comeback when you do.

i watched every snap luck took his rookie season. he is the best ive seen at feeling pressure, moving to avoid, keeping eyes downfield, delivering ball from any position and on the run, which he constantly was as a rookie. i have watched newton his first two seasons, although not every snap, but feel he does not possess lucks ability in pocket. i dont think there is any way newton could have done what luck did last year behind that line. it was truely amazing. newtons greatest gift seems to be his running ability if he is able to get outside the rush, not avoiding the rush to make a throw.

football outsiders ranked cam the third best quarterback in the entire league under pressure in his rookie year.  only drew brees and eli manning were better:

it's roughly three quarters of the way down the page under the "pressured passing, grades 2011" heading

Quite frankly, I don't think he gives a **** about a portion of fans being irrational. Cam is gonna be Cam, and live life without obsessing who does and doesn't like him. He's got better things to do.

Maybe you are right, but if he feels this way it is doubtful he will ever be a true leader. Negative attention doesn't help the team and it is an unnecessary distraction. The elite QBs know how to handle the press and not draw unnecessary attention to their team.

If Cam said nothing wrong, then we wouldn't be having this discussion. The fact is our fans should stop being insecure and let puberty take its course. This is a non-issue, and yet it's big news on all fronts. Fitzgerald is a die-hard Viking fan til this day, Romo admits he'll never stop loving The Packers, Rodgers desperately wanted to be drafted by The 49ers, The Mannings endorse The Saints all the time, etc. Why should Cam be silent? Newton is proud of where he's from. I, myself, despise those Dirty Pigeons, but I'm not about to be emotional just because our franchise QB idolizes the organization. This is silly grade school BS.

There is a big difference is saying something that is "wrong" and saying something that is "not smart".

Should it matter that Cam continues to to be a fan of his childhood team....no.

But, as a person in the limelight, he has to realize that those comments would create some level of a shitstorm.  Thus, the best course of action is to divert the question and move on to something else.

Thus, why I believe he doesn't care what the media perceives him to be. Examining the last four years of his life, it's been a s***storm for Newton, yet he rarely acknowledges any of it. So I don't think he's in any position to care what fans are discussing in forums. It's his life and we don't own and control him.

I agree with you about everything you said.  However, if that is the direction he takes then no one (him nor fans) should get into an uproar when the media goes after these questionable statements.

I can't argue with you anymore. Because you appear to have seen a completely different Andrew Luck and Cam Newton than I have.

Besides, all the INT's Andrew Luck had last year, he allegedly had 20 dropped. On top of that, he had a horrible 2nd half QB rating, QBR, and completion percentage. So I'm trying to understand are you just trolling, or this (pardon my glibness) this deaf, dumb and blind, to speak of Luck in such superlatives?

During Newton's rookie year, he had some of the best pocket composure/presence, I've seen from a rookie in a long time. He stood straight, and tall with bodies flying all around him. During his second year; the play calling, Offensive line, and Newton's decision making (with the help of Chud) was much worse. Nonetheless, I still feel he did more with less, than Luck did, based off what I seen. Luck was awful down the stretch, despite his teams record and finish.

And how can you speak about Newton's, 'great open field running'; when you opened earlier, saying 'he only has straight ahead speed'? Are you confusing yourself, losing it or something? Come on now! Lol

So you feel, Cam commenting on the Falcons, and the NFL Network discussing it, constitutes Cam never/not being a leader, and Negative attention? LMAO/SMH like a wet dog.

I get what you're attempting. Nonetheless, you do realize, many other "QB Leaders" have expressed their affection for their hometown teams before. So by your criteria, I guess this makes them poor leadership material then.

In addition, I guess Robert Griffin, is not a leader, by bringing such "unnecessary attention" to himself, by attempting  to cheat on his marriage in a public fashion. This is of course, if the media chooses to report, sensationalize it, in the first place.

And herein lies the double standard, and pettiness. Most of what Cam actually does, or says, pales in comparison  (or is really no different or worse), than most of the other young QB's, that the media gives a pass to, for what they do.

I would say, except for/along with Wilson and Luck, Cam is miles ahead better in the character, trustworthiness, and 'Off Field Confidence/Activities' department, than most of the other good,  young QB's (especially Griffin and Kaepernick). Those guys have clear baggage, if people are willing to see, talk about it (and of course, if the Media, wants to discuss/sensationalize it, as they attempt with Cam).

Once again; therein lies your/the ultimate double standard.

Agreed. If Cam doesn't care, neither should we.

I don't think Cam cares about the media..  I wouldn't..  Why let them predicate the truth when I'm all about me and becoming great?  Talk about me.  Keep my name in the media.  Good or bad.  I'm focused and ready.

Go look at the quote I was responding too. Someone said Cam doesn't care what the media thinks and if that is true he will struggle to lead this team.

The only people in the entire world who gives a shyt about those comments is a handful of fans.

I can tell you with about 99.9% certainty that no one in the lockeroom cares if he likes Atlanta.

Most of those guys are Panthers fans until another team offers them a better contract.

Do you realize what you're saying?

So are you stating that, 'no NFL QB or player, Professional athlete, who "never cared" what the media thought, ever lead their team'?.....Come on now, that's nonsense.

Go tell, Steve Young, Brett Farve, Joe Theisman, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Namath, Drew Bree's, Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady, and countless other cocky, outspoken Super Bowl Winning QB's that.

SMH

That's why this has been all over the national media....because of a "handful of fans??"

I don't think this particular comment is that big of a deal, but Cam needs to wise up and stop making these types of "comment box" type statements.
