7-29 Camp Thread

Who are the other members on here regarding the twitter brigade of cam newton allegedly sitting out one on one drills and getting yelled at by one of the coaches for being a bad leader?

Pretty funny troll but I'm really wondering if anyone who attended saw anything like this happen at camp?

You think this would have gone unnoticed by every other person there? Someone looking for attention.

I wouldn't of had a fish on my head yo....they both reworked them. I only said Williams would not continue with his current deal....rework or he would be cut. It was reworked. Props to Gett on Beason. I didn't think he could get Beason to budge until NEXT season.

Just be grateful . . no words you say right now are going to make history change. There are plenty of lil fishies on yo head to have been had with you at this point.

reworked restructured renegotiated. . whos spinning poo now?

I said Williams wouldn't play without them addressing his contract.....it was reworked. That ain't spin.

I was wrong about Beason. I thought Beason had all the leverage and wouldn't and talk of such things.

I would have had a whale on my head over Jarrett...I'll give u that

I agree completely, just seeing if one shred of evidence will come to light of it.

Also it's good entertainment and the guy deserves some e-jabbing for his comments.

How a wanna be reporter who is trying to gain respect retweets and stands by those claims I'll never know.

OK, here's where things fall apart for him:

Practice was held in Gibbs Stadium; there's little in the way of shade anywhere. It was also an early practice (9:15 start) and the weather was cool for Spartanburg. I'm calling this guy's "source" a f*cking liar to his face.

I just have always had this feeling that your some sort of reporter here in disguise. You think in the same terms and put value on things the same way. Im not sure how else to explain it. I think you intentionally do things to your writing to make it blend sometimes.

You also rarely admit to being wrong or crediting where its due. You dont deny, I'll give you that.

damn you for selling me into Jarrett as well.

That's what I was hearing. Apparently johnathon jones was there and debunked the rumor.

What makes you think he's regressed? We have nothing to make such a judgement from. The only evidence that exists is Rivera's refusal to play him last year and Rivera has already proven himself incompetent at judging WRs (Legadoodoo, Murphy). I'm more willing to trust what I saw Gettis do with my own eyes, even if it was over 2 years ago, than Rivera's judgement on which WR should be seeing the field.

If he was showing his potential, he'd get on the field. simple as that. And there's a reason he didn't get much PT. What that reason is, is anyones guess. And your points about Legs and Murph. Legs was brought in becsuse he knew the system, while LaFell and Gettis were struggling in practice that season. When LaFell caught on he moved ahead of Legs. As far as Murphy went. He was a big fast WR who showed promise early in his career and he had a cheap price tag. On top of that we didn't have much outside Smitty and LaFell.

sounds like someone else we know also though doesnt it? Are Hixon and Ginn gonna be ready with our playbook on Game 1?

Are you refering to Gettis and LaFell compared to those two? Because you quoted the Murphy part. Who by the way didn't struggle with the playbook.

I don't think you can compare a 7 and 8 year vet to, two 2nd year pros, learning a new system.

Well, I think Gettis fits the same description as Murphy, Hombre Secreto. Theyre not identical but theyre similar. Not many guys didnt struggle it seemed. So, I think Ginn and Hixon might. The blocking schemes, positioning at the line, terminology. . all different. New QB with totally different arm than Eli and Ginn's supposed unfortunate luck with QB's.

Its gonna be very tough for those to come in and do all the things that Gettis probably already can do.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
