Panthers Release Hangartner

My first car was a 1968 Impala 2-door.

Me and 7 of my closest friends often rode around in that beast. :)

I ended up getting (dad picked it out) a 1967 Buick Special a wildcat, I think.  It was huge.  Same situation with the friends.  I was envious of my friends with Pintos.

It's not exactly "dated'. It's pretty common practice these days. Though truthfully, the Panthers have not been one of the teams that's done It a lot in the past. Won't surprise me if we do now though.

Yes, there are risks. Name me an aspect of football that doesn't involve risk.

You have to think long term. You don't panic and throw money at a veteran early because you're scared of losing one game.

It's not like you save a lot of money by not signing a player until after week 1. All you gain is the vet's full year salary isn't guaranteed.

Waiting is appropriate if you are just looking for some insurance due to injury concerns, or taking a flier on a guy, or just churning the bottom of the roster. That's not our probable situation. We likely want a plug-in starter. So it definitely makes sense to do it asap.

If it was so beneficial financially to wait, FA would look very different.

No, but I clearly have a sense of humor unlike yourself...

By the way, I've seen some of your posts... I wouldn't be critiquing anyone about how they act.

Yeah, saying you would throw poo through someone's house is a bit extreme.

Kind of like threatening to hold your breath until you get your way.

I understand being passionate about the Panthers. But, if you care that much....it just might be a little too much.

It was a joke, come on man.

If you take everything people say on this site seriously then it's going to be a very unpleasant time.

Any who, take care.

I am just giving you poo man...I know where you are coming from.

I don't understand not signing a vet either....and I used to get REAL worked up when we lost. I have realized that I can't control any if it, so I just enjoy the ride.

This has absolutely nothing to do with why Hangartner was released, but Williams does fit more of the "hog molly" mold that Gettleman is looking for.

Garry seems to be much more physical than Hangartner. On top of that, he is a wider body. Williams is two inches smaller than Geoff, but he has over 10 pounds on him.

The real question is who is going to back up Silatolu if they stick with Williams and Kugbila on the right side? They could go with an unproven guy like Hicks, who is a hog molly in his own right (330 lbs.). Or they could bring in a guy like Kyle DeVan who has experience starting but would also not have a problem being a backup. I also believe DeVan would agree to a vet minimum contract.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
