Panthers Release Depth Chart

Overall, the chart looks fairly accurate to how the guys have lined up in camp.

Here's a few notes and errors...

- Brockel is still listed as a tight end instead of a full back. I believe he has been splitting reps with Zordich at the full back position.

- Brandon Williams is the 4th string tight end when it seems as if he has made the jump to 2nd string tight end in training camp.

- Hixon is listed as the 4th receiver when it appears Ginn has been lining up as the 4th receiver and Hixon has been lining up as the 5th receiver in camp.

- Gettis is listed as the 5th receiver while Hixon has been lining up as the 5th receiver in practice. Gettis has been battling Pilares, Bersin, and Adams for the 6th wide receiver position.

- Joe Adams is listed as the 2nd string punt returner, but he is not listed among the top eight wide receivers.

- Tauren Poole, Dominique Curry, Talib Ikharo, Zack Pianalto, Dale Moss, and James Shaw were not listed on the depth chart.

Joe Adams not even listed on WR depth chart...looks like he and Pilates are done.

Looks like AE won the #3 WR spot so the coaches must have been very impressed with him.

A little surprised to see Brandon Williams so buried on the TE chart; with the reports of how good he looked in camp I thought he'd be #3 pushing for that 2 spot.

    • This guy pre-draft was saying he could take or leave football, and he seems to have been playing with that mentality ever since lol.
    • Agreed, another safety would be nice. Bud Clark, TCU, is one I would like to see us take a flyer on later in the draft, if he stays healthy and we don't take someone earlier. I just really hope we draft a solid C this year. Tired of seeing us cycle through average to below average players in that area.
    • Bryce doesn't like throwing into the middle of the field unless the play broke down or it's set up to give him a passing lane.  So because of this issue, most of the passing offense has to be outside the numbers towards the boundary. So you see him throw a lot of dump offs, swing routes, short side out routes, comebacks or deep balls outside the numbers using the boundary as protection of an interception.    Pretty easy for a NFL defense to see this and scheme against it.  All you have to do is run a shell cover 2 deep dime, LB plays a hook underneath, take the flat away with a blitz/flat zone option for the two inside DB's, outside two DB's play hook zone underneath and carry anything deep.    Pretty much what NO ran to take away Rico while also limiting What Bryce can do as well.
