Preseason format

It seems Goodell is playing congress and just making changes for the sake of doing something. Apparently there are serious discussions taking place talking about shortening the preseason(once again) and adding regular season games to make the games "more fan friendly.

Personally, as an avid fan I understand the use of preseason to the organization and would not want to jeapardize the product that is put out there right now. I believe they are trying to connect with more fair weather fans which I can't say if it is a mistake to try Snd appeal to that crowd or not. One thing that worries me is a the length of training camp being shortened and players being thrown at each other with their bodies not ready for five months of pounding.

Plus, IMO, they really screwed up the Pro Bowl by making it some sort of Madden mini game and I'm afraid to see what else they can come up with.

This poo has got to stop. Goodell has too much power in decision making for the league. Nothing is going to change unless we as fans and the players have more input.

ummm...i'm not sure people are actually reading this.

The NFL will study and examine the 2013 preseason games to see what can be improved in hopes of offering a better product in the future, a league source said Wednesday.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has said his goal is for a more fan-friendly and watchable preseason.

.

.

.

In addition, the NFL has discussed -- and will continue to discuss -- the possibility of lowering preseason ticket prices across the board. One team can't just drop prices; it would have to be a league-induced change. And the NFL can't impose it unilaterally; owners would have to vote on the proposed change at an owners' meeting.

ummmm....isn't this a good thing?

dropping the prices is the best move..

I seriously fear adding 2 regular season games in place of 2 preseason.  The benefits will never outweigh the downside of more injuries.   And quarters played in preseason vs regular season will add up one way or the other.

Especially over the course of a player's 10 year career..  You can't talk about the impact of concussions and then say there's no way 8 quarters vs 2-3 quarters played will not have a profound effect from year to year..

Not only that but if you only play 2 preseason games, players are going to end up playing more quarters in the preseason as well...  Then it's no longer replacing 2 half ass preseason games for 2 regular season games, but the preseason will be more like 2 regular season games making it 20 full contact games plus playoffs..

so this idea to me that it's still an "18 game season" doesn't add up to me..  And you still have playoff games to worry about.

This will have an impact that will water down the game..
