The United States Men's National Team has cracked the top 20 for the first time in quite some in the Fifa Rankings.

The United States is currently ranked 19th after jumping three spots up from 22.

The U.S. is currently ranked higher than teams like Mexico, France, and Peru.

At number 19, the United States is the highest ranked team in the CONCAF region.

USA's next match is in five days against 13th ranked Bosnia-Herzegovina.

USA, Moving on Up!!!

That's very good. I gotta say, USA passing game is night and day comparing to last World Cup. In expecting big things next year.

totally agree and i think this was THE #1 element to change for the better because of Klinsman. Spain and Germany pass in the middle and near goal better than any other country.

For years the US has frustrated me to no end due to their lack of passing. Now it seems to be apart of their DNA and now we can start looking towards getting past the quarters in World Cup.

Good but not good enough yet. All it is is just a ranking. Klinsmann have done a hell of a job but they're style of play is still about the same. It's the "American" style of play and you just can't really change that. Nothing close to the Europeans, Brazilain, etc.

We still somewhat struggled over Panama in the Concacaf Final. The ending of the game was terrible with the massive clearing of the ball. The U.S. has to learn how to control the ball before we can get anywhere near competitive.

And, Brazil will win next year World Cup.

I disagree that the style of play hasn't changed.

If you watched them under Bradley and Arena, you would notice the lack of midfield used. Arena and Bradley preached the long ball/over the top method as where Klinnsman preaches the linking up/combination style of play.

And while it is just a ranking, it shows progress. The United States is on an 11 game winning streak, which is the longest is U.S. Soccer history.

And while we failed to do a lot of damage on the score sheet, we dominated Panama in possession (70%-30%).

I attribute the score to not having Dempsey, Jones, Altidore, Zusi, Bradley, etc...

I'm going with my dad, let me know if you end up going.

nice!! i definitely will, our planning is still in the formative phase and far from a sure thing, but if it happens we'll probably be there from june 10ish to 18ish and splitting time between rio and recife. which, of course, entirely depends on what the u.s.'s schedule is... we want to catch two games if possible, and then spend the rest of the trip lounging around and drinking.

    • Right, so basically what I said in my first post about this last night. Tepper needs to use that big wallet of his in one of the few ways it can be used in the NFL given the cap.   Give Scourton a bigger signing bonus but not a fully guaranteed deal. Everyone wins in that scenario as if Scourton is smart and hires good money people, he'll take that bigger signing bonus and use it to make more money in the end over the next 4 years than if he just had his fully guaranteed deal and a smaller signing bonus.
    • It is all confusing and layered. SB is the cash you get very soon within weeks or in simple terms, its what you get to sign the paper work. Players and agents can agree on contract but what to "wait" to sign......teams don't like that cause you can "Carlos Boozer" yourself. In order to get that ink dry, while keeping the contract the same, portion it as a bonus to "sign" and get the funds with ________ .   * But Ive seen worded contracts that split the SB or a 20% to a later date. The beans counters can fill in the details about why certain dates are better and save the team money.. Theres tricks to the trade and accounting is full of them.    Ugh another big layer, is SB can be used to manipulate cap and players. Ill try to give a example that makes enough sense. Believe it or not having a owner like Tepper is a cheat code for this. He has cash in hand, where as Mark Davis had problem making pay roll and had to move the team to Vegas....... Tepper can give you 100,000,000 SB right now and the team can spread out the cap hit. Another owner doesn't have or want to give the player 100,000,000 in cash, but offered the same guaranteed contract in roster bonuses fully guaranteed over the next few years........ Which one do you want??? Everyone wants the money now, not before another inflation waves hits in 2 years. So it does 'pay" to have a owner like tepper that's able to have real cash on hand, while it also works GREAT for cap help. Heres a good video, if you can stand coked up pat and mask look-a-like AJ
