Very true I only recall one time last season... But I will say our most successful season in the last 5 years had a ton of 20 carry games between Stew and D-Will.

In 2009 when we had our last dominant season our backs averaged around 15 carries a game. They had several games over 20 carries that year.

Did you mean 2008?

I don't think the Panthers will have a "feature back" the way Washington does. This is because the Panthers truly believe/rely on Cam as a traditional, capable passer. Washington, needs Alfred Morris, as a crutch and a decoy for RG3, more than people realize.

So look for the Panthers to shuttle D'Angelo, Barner and Tolbert in the backfield. Shoot, if Barner, has early success, don't be shocked if HE becomes the feature back (if any would), due to his versatility.

But more than likely, they're going to shuttle between the backs, as they did in 2011. So unless, Cam has 500yds or less, he could very well lead the Panthers in rushing again, while the other guys accumulate 1600 [in total] themselves. That's essentially, what happened in 2011, when Cam, Stewie and DWill, all had 700+ yards each (for a grand total of 2100 yds rushing). I for one, hopes Cam gets 500 yds (or so), unless he gets a bunch on scrambles in space.

Now, of course, the one monkey wrench into all this, would be if Stewart is hurt/misses games. So D'Angelo and Barner, will probably get most of the reps right now, with Tolbert thrown in for variety and short yardage.

We'll see?

PS: It appears many sincere (and apparently sentimental) Huddlers, get misty with the term "Power rush/run". Can this be a carry over from Fox Ball Love, or lack of belief, hatred of Cam or something? Lol

This doesn't mean, the team is going to turn into a run based team, all of a sudden. No .

It just means, the run will now be run out of various traditional formations, instead of via the Read Option or from certain spread formations.

Nonetheless, the Panthers will attempt to throw the ball the same, if not more. But they'll also try quick hitters, run the ball down your throat on more runs (with less Cam decision making via the Read Option), as well. That's all.

Kidding? We don't use a featured RB in Carolina....

Williams isn't going to be a featured RB....not on this team unless we see massive injuries.

Ok feature back may be the wrong term but you know what I'm getting at. I am looking for one of our 1000 yard backs to return to take some pressure of Cam. If our line comes together and opens some holes we could finally have that again. Williams is our best shot at having that. Those ankle injuries are gonna limit some of J Stews carries this year. Our team is built to run so we need 2300 yards plus some out of that back field. That isn't gonna happen if one of them doesn't have a revival season.

That was Jake's last year, and we had one of the worst passing attacks in the league. The running attack that year is the only reason we won any games.

Well, my personal opinion is the 2 thousand yard rushers is an overrated accomplishment.

That is a feat that more could accomplish if they elected to get away from the pass.

Eh to each his own. I wanted Hopkins over Star

I was on the Hopkins bandwagon as well....he was just a good fit for what Newton does.

don't think you guys will be saying that in two years when we have a dominant defense and draft and sign WRs for Cam the next two years.  we'll see though.
