Carolina Panther Training Camp Practice Schedule

The heat of August is what leads into the season. Doing twoadays in that heat takes a toll on those players. Don't for a second think that there is total down time between sessions, they're in the film room learning. They're a young, but veteran team, I'm happy to learn that they don't have to pay such a toll in training camp...

lol truth be told local high schools are going to be working harder than the Panther players.

lol They are younger, they should be, they are not professionals who should know their positions and their schemes...

It would be interesting to see the amount of two a days other teams who have TC in the South do for comparison's sake. Perhaps it is similar to this schedule. I don't mind some guys getting "vet days off" and I know Fox does that. Certainly TCs need to be tailored to what the HC thinks of his team and how they have been practicing.

All I know is TC used to be longer with more two-a-days. Players reported on Friday and first practice the following Saturday. The two-a-days were the norm, not the exception.

I'm not sure the rational. Heat is NOT the reason. It hasn't been any hotter than the past summers.

I think Fox has changed his TC philosophy. The question is why?

See my response above regarding the start of practice. As for 2-a-days, this schedule conforms, generally, with what Fox has done for at least the past couple of years. Two-a-days on M-W-F and one practice on T-Th.

The schedule -- starting later, etc. -- has to do with when Labor Day is and when our first pre-season game is. They can only have so many practices before the first pre-season game.

NFL Rules state that teams may start practice 2 weeks before their first preseason game. Hence the Panthers and Giants may not have their first practice until Monday August 3rd.
