Are Cam and Rivera adjoined at the hip?

So he either felt the answer was already on the roster and we should have less trust in his ability now, or he is playing for next season or beyond and should be absolutely fired immediately.

I'm glad the honeymoon period is over with this guy two weeks into the season. Real encouraging.

Cam newton is not guaranteed any more than anyone else.  I do not see how some think he is beyond criticism, as if his greatness has been confirmed.  It has not.  I still want him to become great, but this thread was about Gettlemen's timetable, not any poster on here-some of you need to stop acting as if you have all the answers and listen for a change.

To answer the thread title: f*ck no

Also, if Gettleman notices anything so far, it's that these coaches DO NOT understand how to utilize any of our offensive talent.  It's not just Cam.

This coaching staff will be gone first and foremost then we just gotta keep putting the pieces together.

From what I've seen, Cam has had this team in a position to win nearly evey game he's played in since he's entered the NFL. I can honestly only think of a few where we were beaten outright with no hope at the end. It takes more than a QB to win a game. Especially one as raw as Cam Newton. We all knew he was a project QB when he was drafted, which is why I wanted AJ Green instead. But after seeing this guy play... he is a beast. And HE IS GETTING BETTER. And he was the right pick. Most thought he wouldn't start until this year, or best case last year. Which actually may have been better for him. But to say he hasn't shown improvement since day one is simply not true. He isn't the type of QB to completely dominate the game and dictate what defenses do yet, but he will be. Hopefully, that's as a Panther. Now, let's use some early draft picks on WRs and OL before we give up on an extraordinary talent like Cam.
You took the words right out of my mouth, its crazy. I have/had the same mindset. We all down here thought AJ was going to the panthers definitely with him being from South Carolina. But then we got cam and I wasn't sold. But then his first season he blown me away with his talent and he can only get better. He just has to show everyone that his first season performance wasn't a fluke.

I think some of us need to take a step back and watch a few other games and see how other QBs play. All QBs make silly mistakes. All QBs miss throws that make you scratch your head. All QBs get sacked. All QBs throw interceptions.

No, Cam can not dictate a game like Peyton, Brees, Rodgers and Brady. But, these guys are future HOFers. Likely first ballet.

He keeps the team in every game. But the team usually blows the game/lead at the end. Is he above criticism, no. But neither are Luke, Star, CJ, Beason, Smitty, etc. The kid will never play a perfect game - it's not possible for anyone at that position.

The thing I can't stand about him is him not going through reads, that whole buffalo game he stared down his first read and that's poo a third year QB shouldn't be doing

Yeah because he's the only quarterback who's has a bad game this year. Give me a damn break.

I said it in another thread. But I'll say it again. Cam needs to loosen up and have fun. All the other young qb's play well because there not put under a lot of pressure and have others to take the load off, so there just out there having fun. While Cam is asked to do everything here.

Let's put it this way:  Unless he improves, he is not getting a $20 million per year contract.  Getttlemen probably has a plan B. Only a fool would not.  Some of you are sounding like the Indy fans did when they let Manning go.

Cam is showing signs of not being able to read defenses.  Don't get mad and call me names--when you hold the ball too long, lock onto one WR, etc.  that is possibly what that means.  Many open WRs are not getting looks-- I wish it were different.  But to act as if he is the football Mesiah is silly.  He has some serious obstacles to overcome.

Yeah because other teams in the league are also ready to move on from their QB's after week 2. I suppose that our upcoming opponent is considering moving on from Eli after he's thrown 7 INT's right? This is just pure idiocy.

He did seem to stare down Smitty and Olsen most of the game. But his first pass was a drop by Lafell. Lafell dropped another TD pass. Ginn short armed a long completion. I think he lost confidence in his receivers - minus 88 and 89.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
