Look, if we string together some wins and put ourselves in playoff contention, ultimately it won't matter. But, I find it troubling that this rag-tag group of replacements were as dominant as they were today, and yet, it took injuries to completely wipe out our original starters and Rivera knowing he was a game away from being fired to make the changes.

Remember when I suggested that Rivera played favorites to our detriment and thst our organization has long had an issue with just handing out jobs rather than making players comoete and earn them? Many laughed it off.

I know that no one could've predicted THIS, but I think it shows what a problem we have had in personnel decisions under Rivera.

But again, I don't care about the past if he makes it right the rest of this season and learns from his mistakes.

What today's performance says is that the Panthers have a great defensive coaching staff. Period. You can say what you want about his game management, but Rivera can flat out coach defense.

The Panthers secondary wasn't exactly terrible the first two weeks.  Getting those early sacks made it easy for the safeties today.  They played much deeper than usual the entire game knowing NY had no run game.

They played a great game against the Seahawks.  Honestly, the Giants will be the easy team they prepare for all year defensively because they are one dimensional.

Hardy, Johnson, and Star wrecked any kind of offensive game plan they could have put together. Did the secondary have to make a big play at any point in this game? Not to my recollection.

 

We feasted on a weak offensive line performance. We rattled Manning in the first half and everything carried from there. Our offense woke up and we won the game.

 

We could have had four Sherrod Martin's in our secondary and nothing would have changed here.

The defense looked very good against Seattle.

 

They played their worst game in many weeks against Buffalo, but without the injuries, they would have pulled that game out.

 

The Giants today finished with 90 yards passing and 60 yards rushing.

 

This was the result of brilliant play by one of the very best front 7's in the league coupled with the one dimensional nature of the Giant offense.

You literally cannot feel that to be true. I would question your sanity if you did. We had a two man defense with Hardy and Johnson. Pressure on the QB absolves all sins in this league. We collapsed the Giants line on every snap, rush or pass, and that was the difference.

Yes because Godfrey, Beason, and Norman were completely flawless, unquestionable options at their positions.

The Giants put up huge numbers the first two games. Yes our DL was lights out, but they can't play that way if the back end isn't holding up. They are completely dependent on each other and our secondary got ate up for big yards the first two weeks. Changes shouldve been made earlier because our DL got pressure in the first two weeks and passes were still being completed to a far less talented receiving group by far less accomplished QBs compared to what the Giants have.

I think you are grossly underestimating the secondary's performance today.

Godfrey was such an abysmal safety I can't see how anybody is surprised the secondary instantly looks better without him

It's well known the Giants can't run the ball.  The Panthers only rushed 4 the entire game and dropped everyone else in coverage.  Easy to defend.  No credit is due yet.
