I am watching the IND v SEA game and I'm sorry but Luck is just not very impressive to me.  Forgetting the fact that he is 5 for 13 at this point, he is just not playing very well. I honestly don't understand the hype. The Peyton comparison is just not there. Lots of QB's call plays at the line. Not just them two but for all the hype he is obviously calling the wrong ones lol.  Maybe he will get better but for all the hype he got over the past 3 years it really just isn't there yet.

He has many of bad habits,

He doesn't always go through his progressions

He tends to roll out of the pocket when he doesn't have to.

He doesn't climb the pocket when he should.

He stares down receivers.

He is accurate but not abnormally

He is obviously behind many of the QB's from his generation, not just his year group.

With all this, I just don't get why people are riding him so hard. Even in college he couldn't out perform his class in either year to win the Heisman when it was basically given to him at the beginning of the season. And in the NFL he is just another young QB. Not saying he is horrible, but definitely not worth the hype. It really wouldn't bother me except I get tired of the announcers always reaching for compliments. Anyways just some observations. If anyone feels any different, point to a game against even a decent defense where he performed well.

I think you're seeing a little of what you want to see here.

Luck is easily one of the best young QBs out there (more than one expert would tell you the best).  He's as solid as any young guy I've seen in a long, long time.

Is he overhyped?  Yeah.  Most quarterbacks are. He's certainly not perfect, but he's definitely very very good.

I know lots of people here dislike Luck either because they feel he spurned us or because they think the media favors him over Cam,  Anytime the Colts lose, it's common to have someone on here crowing as if a loss somehow proves Luck is a fraud (unwise logic given the Panthers record) but let's be real.  If you look at it objectively, Luck is definitely one of the best young quarterbacks in the league.

And it's okay to admit that.  It doesn't devalue Newton to admit other quarterbacks are good.

Maybe he is good. There certainly are enough people proclaiming his greatness in the media. I just don't see it. And the only thing people keep pointing at to prove his greatness is his "leadership". I think he has the same flaws as every other young QB in the league and has done nothing to separate himself. Help me out, show me where I'm wrong. I am trying to be objective.

They all have flaws.  And not just the young ones.  The current QB gods of the league (Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees) all have parts of their game that you can pick apart.

There's probably no more overhyped sports position in the world than NFL quarterback.  Experts rave about them like they can do no wrong on a regular basis.  If you watch them with an objective eye, you see they're all quite 'human'.  Heck, there were people hyping Mark Sanchez when he was a rookie.

All I can tell you is throw your feelings out and watch the games without emotion.  The easiest way to get practice at that is to watch games where you don't care who wins.  You get a lot better perspective on everything that way.

That's the thing, I'm pretty objective. I have coaching experience. I also work with a good friend of mine that runs a youth football league, (not a team, the league) And I'm telling you he is not particularly good. I expect him to regress over the years, and I think there is a reason they brought in his college coordinator but reduced his pass attempts. He is the type to never have less than 10 interceptions a year. His form is pretty good and his arm strength is okay but he does not go through his reads, he doesn't climb the pocket often enough and he escapes the pocket too soon. That's my unbiased evaluation. But I respect different opinions.

You might wanna check the final score and stats.

Given that he just handed Seattle their first loss, this might not have been a good day to start an anti-Luck thread.

Colts Decimated the 49er's on their home turf?  Check

Colts beat the Seahawks at Lucas Oil Field?  (Many people still believe is the team to beat in the Super Bowl!)  Check  (Also handed the Seahawks their first loss!)

No Second Year slump?  Check (so far)

Colts on top of their Division?  Check

9th comeback game of his young career? Check (9 out of 22 Luck started! And Counting!)

Passer Rtg of 94.1?  Check (again, so far 2013)

Set Rookie QB passing Yardage record (4,374 yrds)? Check

The most wins by a rookie quarterback drafted first overall in NFL history?  Check

Yep, I'd say he's just an average Quarter Back!  :D

He doesn't comer out wearing Superman football shoes.  Doesn't wear Superman T-shirts under his jersey.  He spends his off season watching game films.  (Not launching his line of GQ men's clothes.)

But hey, I don't run a league.  I do know a lot of average QB's have won Super Bowls.  If Andrew Luck is average, I'll take it!

Colts are one of the few teams I recall,  who are rebuilding and still making the playoffs!  (And this in the Salary Cap era!)

    • If we don't extend him, there is no way another team would offer him more than a one year $10m prove it deal lol.
    • He isn’t but looking at what those guys are getting paid, paying him what he’s making now wouldn’t have been terrible, they should have and still should be looking at pairing some guys with brown to form a pretty dominant d line
    • The Bryce hate is nearly laughable.  He looked like garbage the first two games, but has really, really shown improvement and growth.  People who know football are taking notice.  Will Bryce ever be Arron Rodgers, Farvre, Manning or any other hotshot gunslinger?  No, but I think he is a smart football player who has survived a lot more than most other QB's would have after 2.5 years.  So long as this injury doesn't linger I think you will see legitimate growth over the next two years, with a big leap coming next season. Reich and Brown not working together, Duce causing trouble behind the scenes.  Starting WR's of Mingo and Chark.  No legitimate scheme for the OL.  Fitterer's general incompetence. An owner who was desperate for attention.  How did Zac Wilson, Mariota, Winston, Tribuski, Rosen, Lawarence, Fields, Jones, Pickett, and Richardson fair after 2.5 years?  We see what happens when the Texans have not given Stroud the support. The 2018 draft had great talent, they just needed to mature, hell we wasted two of the top three drafted that year.  Outside of Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, Burrow, or Drake Maye, I'm not sure I really would want any other 1st round QB drafted in the past 10 years? RELAX......  Bryce is our guy as we grow as a team.  The only other option I currently see is maybe a buy low draft pick on Drew Allar if he falls to the third round or lower. Bryce is going to be extended.  He won't get Prescott money which would benefit our team going forward.  A mid range extension like Darnold or Baker got may be just the thing this team needs to keep growing.
