gettlemem denies coaching search

Recommended Posts

Okay okay...we all know he's scouting potential head coaches.  He just can't say it because it's only Week 5 and the season might have a miraculous turn around.  Gettleman knows the chances of having a winning season are about as good as me waking up tomorrow three inches taller, but at least we have a GM that is doing research and preparing to make a move.  All the moves Gettleman has made so far have been smart decisions.  They might not all pan out but, they are at least helping the Panthers claw out of the enormous debt that Hurney put them in.

I think they should can him right freaking now.   Gettleman had his chance after last year and we blew it.  Now another season of eating crow because I was hoping he learned something.  He didn't.

I believe Dan Henning was the best we ever had at half time adjustments.   Though he was never our head coach, I always thought he did well with adjustments.   Rivera couldn't adjust his own damn belt without help.  Shula for that matter too.

That was my biggest fear with Shula.  Could he make half time adjustments.  The answer is clearly no.

I would keep the defensive staff.  They played fairly well considering our offense was asleep.

    • Irony yes you could say that as long as there is no intent to claim that because he left we all of a sudden got so bad we are losing all the time. Which it seems like you might be trying to imply.  Did we lose something? Yes we did. Was it worth 5 years at 28 mil per? Not to my thinking.

    • First: What do you think the word ‘scapegoating’ means? Because what I said was not scapegoating.  They are two different players playing two different roles.  I simply said two things about Burns, if I recall. One, basically he is a one dimensional player that is doing well because they have a very strong front in NY.  Two, I was against paying his price because he is a liability against the run. One dimensional and therefore not worth it.  Summing it up: he e is a pass rush specialist, about all I have ever felt about him, and his financial demands made him much less of a value.  IMO.
