The Return of Jonathan Stewart

Yea keep acting like Stewart is Jim Brown. The Rams aren't changing their gameplan for #28. They are preparing for #1. This isn't 2010... A healthy Stewart doesn't exist anymore.

LMAO...how do you possibly connect those dots.

I said they wouldn't gameplan for Stewart bc he is coming off PUP and a non factor.

I said a healthy Stewart would....which he isn't even in game shape. A healthy Stewart is a different runner than Williams. An inside power runner....which Williams is nothing of the sort.

As usual you always seem to miss my point. Point was that even if he was healthy nobody is scheming to stop #28. Teams will always scheme to stop Newton. He is the difference maker. As you saw Sunday, Tolbert fills Stewart role just fine. #28 won't determine how far this team goes. Dwill & #35 r plenty enough.

funny that you say that, because you completely missed his point.

What did I miss?

he didn't say they would gameplan for stewart because he is some superstar all-world RB like adrian peterson. he also didn't say they would scheme their entire defense around stopping j-stew.

he said they would gameplan for a healthy stewart (however minor it may be) because he brings completely different qualities as a runner in comparison to d-will.

A healthy Stewart in the offense vs without impacts an opponents defensive gameplan.

With a healthy Stewart you have to prep for a fair amount of inside power running. Williams isn't that.....and Tolbert is merely used as a short yardage back.

I think the O and Cam is better with a power inside runner as the primary RB. Said it in 2011, which was why Stewart lead the division in % of snaps played. That inside power threat has to be respected bc it is an easy 3-4 yards if they don't play it

I hear you and I didn't miss his point. Me and CRA have had these discussions before.

Remember how you use to tell me how this isn't 2008 @nymore? Well, this isn't 2011. #28 hasn't played in 3.5 years and he still feels pain in his foot.

hasn't played in 3.5 years? Your math is fuzzy....

That inside power run threat is what essentially got Williams demoted every season Cam has played here......except this one.....and it can still happen

    • This play was never designed to go to either DJ or Odunze. The primary read is Burden who is stymied early, with the outlet being Kmet if Caleb doesn't like the option for Burden. Given the situation it's pretty obvious the simple play is to take the free yards with Kmet, or if you want to be aggressive just wait a beat longer for Burden to uncover on his double move. If Moore was ever going to be a viable target in this play then Caleb should have started out reading Odunze to hold the safety in the middle and then coming to Moore, but because he started the snap staring down the right and then came back to the middle late it made it where the safety's leverage remained to the outside of Moore, so he would never have imagined that pass actually being thrown to him in that situation. Realistically DJ's best option in that context is to just occupy the safety to leave a hole open for Caleb to get it to Burden, which is probably why he throttles down vs carrying the safety across.
    • Even with Sonny Styles still on the board I thought it's a no brainer to address the Oline after Icky's injury.  And how can you pass up Fano at 19 given our situation. Then the rest of the draft just kind of made sense with maybe the exception of Klubnik.  But if Canales can fix him and Young goes down. . .I think it's a solid pick. What do you think of this draft?
