Meeks will prove to be the best acquisition of the offseason

Maybe there were rumblings in the lookeroom about Turdo, that's why he stepped in on the defense. Very few coaches have ever let their coordinators do what they want. Most teams are run the way the coach wants. So this thought of a Fox approved offense or defense......well yeah.

our offense hasn't changed much at all. the players Fox currently has simply have the talent to execute Fox's offense better now. The simple fact is really nothing is going to change under Fox. The years he has been here back that up.

Fox does run the team. His coordinators are running a Fox approved version of offense and defense. AND if it isn't Foxy enough he will step in....like last season. Despite what people want to claim, our offense is just about the same w/ Davidson as the prior ding dong. Davidson has better players to run a Fox offense though......

What do you want him to do, sit up in the stands and read a newspaper? Of course Fox runs the team, he's the head coach, it's his job to run the team. But that has nothing to do with how his philosophies are carried out on the field. If Davidson is just a figurehead, explain how much better our offense is now than it was with Henning? Better talent, absolutely, but better execution and game plan as well. And we should see a huge difference in defense this year also. Why?

Because Fox explains what he wants and let's his coaches take it from there, like every effective boss in the country does, regardless of profession. This, Fox runs the team is getting old and soggy. Just because Fox sat in on a few defensive meetings a couple of years ago does not mean that he is a micromanager. He doesn't have the time to manage and still call every play. Wake up and smell the roses, or the dandelions, whatever your tastes might be...

again, Davidson isn't a figurehead......his job is to run Fox's offense. Fox's offense has looked the same every season. Some seasons get better results b/c he has players who fit the offense. I already told you why our offense is better under Davidson....he has the players to run a Fox offense. Give Henning this OL and stable of RBs and he would have a pretty good offense at Carolina.

Fox also took over the D last season. That was also the point when we got ultra conservative, lame, and flat out bad. Players have gone on record saying what coordinators want to do....and what the team does. The team plays Fox ball.

Fox did not take over the D last year. He may have sat in on some meetings and gave his imput, but Trgo was calling the defense every single week. It was the same with Henning...he was still calling the plays, no matter how much imput Fox had during the week.

It has already been made public that Fox stepped in last season. Sure, Trgo was calling the plays on Sunday but Fox stepped in and changed things. Things also clearly took a turn for the worst and the D never looked like it did to start off the season before Fox "stepped in".

Trgo left for a reason. The Panther players have gone on record before saying Trgo wanted to be much more aggressive with them but basically had his hands tied. Trgo couldn't work for Fox any longer.

Fox has a lot of great aspects to him but he has some glaring flaws.

time will tell I guess

I actually think our defense will struggle this year under the new system and only get better as the season progresses

I agree. I'm thinking like the NYG of 2007. Sure hope they turn it around a little faster though.

When it comes to playcalling, a lot of it is also the skill of the playcaller in situations, knowing what O or D play to call. That talent takes awhile and experience to develop.

Alright I'm going to have to call you out on this one. Under Davdison the variety of plays has expanded greatly over what we saw with Henning. We are seeing quick tosses to the running backs, more iso's, complex WR screens, designed plays to the TE (not many but that's more than none), etc. Yes on the surface a lot seems the same but the playcalling is more agressive than anything we'd seen under Henning. We saw multiple games where we used the flea flicker last year, where I can't recall many uses of it under Dan.

If Fox is as conservative as many would like to make out then we'd never have seen half the plays we did last year. We have one of the highest risk offenses in the entire NFL and that's why we had the 2nd highest amount of offensive points per play, second only to the Chargers who run the same style of offense.

Henning ran all that also. imo. I don't see it is being more aggressive.....Take the 2nd TB game for example......our offensive schemes were weak and the Bucs basically said we ran the same 4 or 5 plays and they knew everything coming........they just could not stop it. Just better players this past year....not coaching.

Fox was the most conservative coach last year in the NFL. That is an easy one to argue w/ lots to support it. Granted Jake Delhomme is our QB so we are a risky to a certain degree b/c the ball touches his hands every snap.

OK, you say Fox is the MOST conservative coach last year and there is lots of data to support it......now prove it.

Please make the arguement...complete with supporting statistics, examples, etc....

I think we need to see Brown in pads and play some downs before we pencil him in as threat for next season.

I think his collage game tape gets him some cred right now. The shift from collage to pro DE is not all that drastic as it is with WRs and Running backs. Your ether good or your not on both levels.

ok, when I get home from work I will. Much easier to make that arguement than the one that our offense took the 2nd most risks. Seriously, some of you guys take homerism to a new level. Fox has flaws and everyone who watches Carolina should be able to admit Fox's flaws at this point. Off the top of your head....name a coach you think was more conservative?

No, we had the 2nd most offensive points per play last year. Which means we scored fast. Not exactly a conservative offense. Here are the top 5:

1 Chargers, 4.44 points per 10 plays

2. Panthers, 4.25

3. Saints, 4.24

4. Giants, 3.94

5. Cardinals, 3.91

Um, that doesn't have anything to do w/ being conservative or risky. We were able to achieve that b/c of some basic run plays....plays that people could not stop. We were the best running team in the entire NFL last season. Handing off to D-Will and him destroying people doesn't = not conservative.

I don't mind Fox being conservative on offense...especially w/ the team he had and will have next season.
