DRAFT SPECULATION/NEWS THREAD

I didn't say instantly or his rookie year. I think he's capable tho. May not happen but he has the shot and ability to do so. The rebound stat might be too high. Call me crazy for hoping for the best.

I'll give you that if he ever puts up those numbers.

You don't have to agree with all the moves your favorite team makes to be a fan.

But why be a fan if all I'm gonna do is criticize and hate the moves they make. We could e a lot worse off. We could've traded for Brandon Jennings lol. So if they think they can make McDermott work then I will be his biggest supporter along with MKG and the rest of our prospects

Because I can see Parker coming into the league and avg. 17 -20 points a game. I don't see that for McDermott.

I can see a lot of similarities in Parker's game and Melo's game. I don't see the comparison to McDermott. Either you're talking a stretch 4 like Dirk ( but McDermott not tall enough) or a spot up wing shooter like Korver, Wally or Battie (but all of them were wing players not post players in college).

Some here see a hard transition for him and a spot where we already have young talent (Mkg, Taylor or Cody) trying to develop and don't see the need in adding another player in the mix.

This a million times over.

His game doesn't seamlessly translate to the NBA.  He is a tweener.  He played primarily as a 4 in college operating from the mid-post and out.  HE is not athletic enough to play the 3 in the pros, and he's not big/strong enough to be a 4 either.  Additionally, as you pointed out, we already have several draft picks that have shown promise and deserve the chance to develop at both of those positions.

We need scoring and athleticism, specifically at shooting guard.  It's why this pick would make absolutely no sense at all.  Not only are you throwing those young prospects currently on the roster under the bus for a questionable pick at positions that aren't needed, but there is no guarantee that he can even do what he did in college on the pro level.  It's just stupid anyway you look at it.

We don't need another guy that stands around waiting for shots, we need a guy that can make those shots when needed AND create his own when all else fails - AGAIN, at shooting guard...  NOT at the two positions we addressed most in the last two drafts.

Maybe we plan on trading MKG and they want to trade defense for offense there?  Still, I don't think he will be anymore than a spot up shooting role player, and there are players at 9 that could be much more than that.

So wait are you a Panthers fan??

Did you agree with everything that Marty Hurney did?

That's my biggest problem you trade the major reason you had a top 6 defense for uncertain offense. Why?????

I completely forgot about him lol. Maybe they are worried about his Achilles.

He's already practicing and jumping out the gym I heard. That's why picking McDermott would be a complete buzz kill.

Don't forget that CDR is still a option as well.

Yeah I'm with WOW!! on saying we have a log jam at the 3. We need a starter quality 2 guard and an upgrade to the PF position. I really don't want to see us draft someone at a position where we have a ton of young talent. If MKG gets his confidence going, and develops a reasonable jumper, he is playing big minutes right alongside Al. I don't want to draft a player that won't contribute more than 15 minutes per game.

We would spend 2 top 10 picks on 1 position. And I'm not suppose to question the direction of this team???
