Great article about Cam not found in the sports section

Cam is so much more real than Griffin it's almost funny.

This is what I have been saying for the longest. Those in the Sports Media have taken hypocrisy to a whole new level. They will encourage folks to hate Cam by feeding the ignorance. They will continue to push, and not always very subtlely, his image as being the traditional big, dumb black QB who is all athlete with no brains, who has gained success to early based only on his strenght.  In the meantime they will allow QBs like RG III and Colin to get away with being who they are and do whatever they please, so the endless scrutiny of Cam will appear more like it's Cam and not because of his skin color.

They simply need to stop with the immature behavior towards Cam and treat all these QBs as they truly are. And also they need to stop with  racial stereotyping, while acting like they are not.

Funny thing is, Cam has been doing what he's doing with these schools since he was at Auburn. He just didn't have the money to donate. He even stated on Jay Leno, after winning the Heisman, that he wanted to own Daycare Centers when he retire from football. This is a kid who has his head on straight. But those in the media would much rather feed the hate against him because he is talented, SMART, and succeeds despite them seeming hell-bent on wanting him to fail.

RG3 is busy throwing his OL, WRs, and coaching staff under the bus.

Well, they will allow him to get away with it because they have Cam to take their dislike of his behavior out on.

Remember Cam mentioned something about a "suggestion box" last year and those in the media and way to many on this site raked him over the coals. How dare him bright to light the reailty that the Panthers, as a team seriously needed to sit down and take stock of themselves. He obviously knew what he was talking about.  But it was Cam who stated it. Had it come from any of the other young QBs, it would have been understood for what it was.

I've said this before..  Cam laid out the blueprint for RGIII going through the draft process..  He nearly spoke it word for word and then you get to see the media's reaction to both.

The RGIII facade is slowly but surely crumbling.

And when a media-generated HERO is brought low, the media NEVER forgives.

Its gonna get bad and bloody for poor ol' RGKnee.

What pisses me off is if you put Cam in a big market, that story is on ESPN 15 times today. Instead, 2 Panthers-related items got discussed: "the play" and whether or not we are Super Bowl contenders after that win.

Way to go, national media.

To a certain degree you are right. Yes, the size of the market does count but remember, it is Cam Newton you are talking about. The QB who seem to piss folks off simply for being himself.

Well I should say "certain folks" because if you look at the majority of those who feel a needlessly to stereotype against Cam with false preceptions of him as a way of hiding their jealousies and other issues, they all have a certain commonality.

I never really got Cam hate last year.

Sideline demeanor isn't a big deal to me (shows his desire win/hate to lose)

Press Conference issue (that just growing up)

RG3 simply comes across as arrogant and not accepting responsibility when the shizzle is the fazzle, Cam has always excepted responsibility when things went south

I don't get the whole "traditional big, dumb, black QB" stuff, that isn't traditional

There a three things that have kept RG III from being treated like Cam in the media: He's not as imposing as Cam, he isn't as physically fit as Cam, everyone knew that he had a bad knee, and he's not as easy to stereotype as Cam. Plus if you want to throw in a fourth one, those in the media have been going to such extremes to paint Cam that they caught flax from folks like Warren Moon. They dare not turn around and do the same thing to RG III. Cam is taking the abuse, so QBs like RG III, Colin, and Russell won't. Sad but true.

Very true, that is the thing I respect most about him. How he fights through the noise and comes out on the better on it
