How easy (or hard) is it for you to watch games?

I usually wind up pacing if the game is close... So I had a problem Monday night because we had to go to a bar to watch it and I had to stay in my seat. Fortunately tomorrow I can watch at home.... and pace, if needed.

Yep. I'm a pacer too

The question really is; are the games fun for you?

Back in the day 15 years ago when I didn't know anything about football, had not been a coach and not susceptible to the Panthers body slamming our hopes face first in the ground...... It was VERY EASY to watch games....

Now--- I over analyze everything, coach from the couch and always seem to see the bad things that stick out.

Even in our success I am constantly saying we have to get better and I'm still not convinced we have what it takes. ( not saying we can't make it, but this team still has a lot to prove~It's time to BEAT a team in the ground again [Miami])

So for me, Sundays are exhausting.

I miss the days when all I knew about football was the score. The days before I coached, the days when it was a lot easier to be a fan.

How bout you??

Just focus on the ball, the rest will take care of its self and it will make it way easier to watch.

In the 3rd and part of the 4th quarter when Brady was standing in the pocket with open passing lanes I came unglued. My buddies looked at me like I was insane. I thought they were actually going to cut off my beer, but I calmed down on that last drive because we put some nice pressure on Brady and he started screwing up. Brady cannot handle pressure.

It's kinda neat when your buddies refer to you as a sociopath behind your back.

With the way delhomme used to pitch it up in double coverage to smitty I am positively relaxed watching cam nowadays.  Though on that rediculous 3rd and 7 scramble against the pats I kept vacillating back and forth between THROW THE fuging BALL AWAY and HOLY poo HE MIGHT ACTUALLY DO THIS!

TLDR: Not too worked up but momentary heart attacks still happen.

My brother-in-law, who is a die-hard Dallas fan, has really helped me with this. Watching how crushed and emotional he gets after Dallas loses, (He's had a lot of opportunities in the past 4 - 5 years), made me realize how silly that behavior can be. It's to the point where his family dreads Sunday evenings.

My love for the Panthers has not diminshed at all. I just try to take a more positive stance going in. I cannot control how they play, how the coaches game plan, or even how the Refs call the game. I can cheer and holler and have fun during the game. I can also really enjoy the Wins. If the outcome is different than I want, I do have a period where I am down, but I try to find positives to hang on to.

Go Panthers!

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
