I'm surprised, not bad at all chuck. My favorite one so far. Give me Benjamin/Robinson/Moncrief in the first over Matthews and I'd really like it.

Really like the Landry pick in the third. Your draft picks by position is how I'd want Carolina to do it as well.

1. WR

2. OL

3. WR

4 and 5. CB's

It's still to early to project anthiny too, but thanks.

If I have to predict, Matthews may not even be there at our pick. A team needy of a receiver like the Ravens may go ahead and draft him. We might have to choose between Benjamin/Robinson/Moncrief. I really like Benjamin due to his 6'5 frame but I wanna see the combine and pro day first.

Nah just common sense

You must be smarter than all the experts who has Landry in the 3rd? Not.

This is a damn deep draft (especially at WR) that a guy like Landry could/should be there in the 3rd. His teammate Odell Beckham will more than likely go ahead of him too. Now that's common sense.

Before you're going to post something so stupid, think before you do.

Sammy Watkins, Marqise Lee, Mike Evans, Devante Adams, Allen Robinson, Jordan Matthews, Kelvin Benjamin, Brandin Cooks, Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Paul Richardson, Brandon Coleman, Donte Moncrief.

If it came to just purely receiving skills landry would be in the top 5 in this class IMO. Blocking leaves a lot to be desires though, but I highly doubt he'll last past the 1st half of the 2nd round, just my opinion. Would love for the panthers to get him.

if for nothing else, pie for writing all that up and getting video evidence. great post

Matthews would obviously be great to have, and of the top receivers coming out, will likely be able to make an impact early in his career

The Carolina Panthers need another wide receiver for Cam Newton. That fact has been true since he arrived in Charlotte, and while Brandon LaFell has flashes it's also clear that Steve Smith is aging.

Matthew Fairburn of SB Nation put out his latest Mock Draft, and picking at 27th the Panthers take a much-needed pass catcher.

27. Carolina Panthers: Jordan Matthews, Wide Receiver, Vanderbilt

Cam Newton has to be begging for a wide receiver at this point. Steve Smith is getting up there in age, and while he's still productive, the Panthers need to find someone to play opposite him. Jordan Matthews is a big, physical wideout with the speed to beat defenses deep. Newton would like this pick quite a bit. No more sad Cam.

How apropos that Fairburn picked the player our own Derek Leazer featured in his Tuesday spotlight. I think it's an absolutely sensational pick that gives Newton a mix of size and strength the position is starting to call for more and more in the NFL.

Instead of giving you a litany of reasons why Matthews will impress, I'd rather point to one factor that's often overlooked. Find a productive, multi-1,000 yard receiver at the college level who was elite without an established quarterback and I'll find you an NFL stud.

Initially this seems like an over-simplification, but Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, A.J. Green and Julio Jones all fit this mold. Move slightly away from the top of the NFL elite and you find Alshon Jeffery, Keenan Allen and Demaryius Thomas -- all of whom have the same characteristic.

It doesn't mean that every productive receiver without a quarterback is NFL ready, but it's a nice indicator. A good quarterback makes a receiver look better, a great wide receiver can make his quarterback look better.
