Las Vegas boo-yah

PanthersATL

Recommended Posts

Kicking myself about this - every year in the spring I put $20 on the Panthers winning the Super Bowl at a Las Vegas sports book.

This year, the odds at that time were around 40-1 of it happening, so if it carries all the way through I'm looking at $800.

There was some article recently that said the Panthers were ranked even worse as the season began, with odds up towards 60-1 or higher.

So for next year, do I do my normal spring sports book bet when the odds are definitely not doing to be in the stratosphere (no pun intended) or should I wait until after the schedule is announced and we're closer to fall?

And yeah, I probably should have put more than $20 down, in hindsight.  That's a different problem.

800 will pay for your trip back there to pick up your ticket and have a little mini vacation.....Almost as good as some Auburn College students that put down like 100 bucks when the odds were 500-1 to win the national championship....I would hedge my bet if I was them. Christmas in the airport...gotta love it..... KEEP POUNDING!!!

Like I do every year, I put $50 down in Vegas on the Panthers to win it all. The odds when I bet were around 55/1. Can't remember, might have even been like 70/1. If pigs fly and they pull off a miracle I could win a few grand. I think Montsta got in at 70/1 or some poo as well.

I bet Florida State paid out pretty well also. Hard to see a freshman star quarterback coming.

77-1 at MGM Grand the weekend prior to 4th of July.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
