2014 Free Agency?

PanthersATL

Recommended Posts

I hope I'm reading this page wrong  -- http://overthecap.com/teamcontract.php?Team=Panthers -- but do we have a ton of players who are going to be free agents in 2014?

  • Jordan Gross
  • Hixon
  • Captain
  • Ginn
  • Wharon
  • Garry Williams
  • Midell
  • Mitchell
  • Florence
  • Cole
  • Hartsock
  • LaFell
  • Anderson
  • Clausen
  • Senn
  • Connor
  • Jason Williams
  • Kraken
  • Gano
  • Scott
  • Campbell

Seems a bit unusual to have that huge a list of players to worry about.  It's just me, right? Not reading this page correctly?

Greens are my top priorities with yellow being secondary. Wharton i'm on the fence with though. if we re-sign him, move him to RG for when Amini comes back. I'd be much more comfortable with that.

poo, I count 9 starters on that list... that's quite a few.

I think if we were to win it all, a few of those guys would retire. I could see Gross, Wharton, and Florence retiring after getting a ring.

Ya for sure, gross has already said its carolina or retirement next year, and when gross talked to wharton about continuing playing he sounded like he was ready to hang it up

Man if we won it all this year. They can we tire for all I care. Because they would earned it. Bottom line win it all and then do what you want. Play another year or retire. Just win this SB.

Wait... Hold on one second. Why Capt on this list. Didn't Capt. just sign a 2 year contract instead of a one? I could swear hearing him sign a 2 years contract this past off season.

GUT Stewart and Godfrey.

DO NOT bring back Lafail.

We'd be in good shape. No worries.

I know releasing Godfrey would help us more then hurt us. But the way Stewart contract is loaded right now. Wouldn't letting him go hurt us in the long run in dead cap if they did this off season. If so I don't see it happening this year or next.

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
