Guess who gets to go to the Super Bowl this year?!

Not me.

Nope, can't even watch the game on TV.  All because somebody (it couldn't have been me, no really it couldn't) decided to make non-refundable plans that night without even thinking about it being Super Bowl Sunday.

All we knew was "hey, it's like, every few Sundays in the winter - it will be fun!".  Signed up without thinking about the impact to the Panthers.

So I'll just ask you in advance -- if/when the Panthers make it to the Super Bowl, I'm going to be a few hours behind watching the game on the DVR later that night.  So please don't post anything about the game until after I'm done watching, mmmmkay?

TIA.

hmm............does stuff like this happened to you in the past???

Because you sir................... just gave us a SB win !!!!!

You know they are going to win now since you are screwed!

One more thing...........if you want to see a reply  without any prior knowledge of what happened.

I suggest hidden ear plugs.......eye blinders and a seeing eye dog if you go out that day.

Yeah, it's just the way the schedule worked out for this gathering. It's not like I said, "hey, let me plan something on Feb 2, weeeeeee!".

And there's no way I can get out of it, regardless of who's playing in the SB.  dammitdammitdammit.    And the bitch of it is there's going to be some jag-bag who'll be checking their phone or something during the event and will proudly spoiler it for everyone.  "for those of you wondering, the score is 58-0 what a game!"

Did I say jag-bag?  I meant ass-hat.

Don't be that guy.

I don't know what kind of plans you're making but they can be broken no matter what. I watched Panthers - NYG in 2006 dodging terrorists to get to the big tent in Baghdad so I'm sure you can do it too :)

If it were just me affected, no doubt -- plans would be changed in a heartbeat.

But there are others involved, and if I cancel then other people will be out some $$ that wouldn't make it fair to do to them.  So I'm committed and have to follow through.

DVRs are my friend.

I saw the title and thought, "oh hey, another d-bag boasting about going to a big game."

Then I read the thread, and kinda like OP. Good, honest guy, placing others before him. Much respect brotha.

Granted, I can't imagine hanging out with males (I'm assuming some will be there) and not checking up on the Super Bowl. Or in that case, watching it, since I'm assuming you'll have a TV somewhere in the vicinity.

If you're really gonna DVR then watch it later, and the Panthers are playing, without checking ESPN and whatnot. You sir, have some incredible self-discipline.

    • Well, the whole rationale used  for the high IQ point guard is it would allow us to spend our resources elsewhere….instead it’s all our first rounders ever since to support the bad pick.  Reality is our front office is just bad.  If you wanted Bryce Young you were going to need to do something unique and special for him.  Instead we just insert a QB with traditional tools into old NFL concepts that pair with traditional talent and our pass game is whack
    • Good to see some other folks are speaking the same language on this. It's simple common sense. But it seems like there's a disconnect due to the misplaced value the team has put on Thielen because he was the only vaguely good veteran WR willing to sign with the Panthers after we traded away DJ Moore. That time has come and gone. We have two first round WR's on the roster now.
    • Yeah I’m turning this into a Bryce can’t play QB thread. Just stating that offense was a poo show two years ago. No QB is succeeding in that, much less a rookie. I feel like it’s become a common debate strategy on here to just jump down the rabbit hole of saying he is just bad in so many ways when any certain point gets countered. If that doesn’t work we can deflect to how poorly this team has been ran. In regards to the actual point we are debating, the OL was struggling, half of the skill players aren’t on a roster, Mingo has done nothing with his new team and the staff are either not coaching or on their 3rd team in 3 years, aside from McCown (I liked McCown too). Honestly about as bad as it gets. No need to try to state how good of an offense it was billed it because that has been proven false at this point.
