Jeff Skinner Is Red Hot

Recommended Posts

Skinner is on a tear right now and single handidly keeping the Canes in playoff contention.

Skinner has 16 goals and 4 assists in the past 16 games. He has five multi-goal games in the last 14 games and two hat-tricks on the season.

This kid cannot me stopped right now.

The Canes beat the Capitals in OT tonight behind the great play of Skinner and Murphy.

Jeff Skinner: 3 goals

Manny Malhotra: 1 goal, 1 assist

Eric Staal: 2 assists

Ryan Murphy: 2 assists

Alexander Semin: 1 assist

Tuomo Ruutu: 1 assist

Drayson Bowman: 1 assist

Anton Khudobin: 41 saves

Remember last year when everyone wanted to trade skinner for anything we could get? And how I got trolled for saying he was just having a rough patch in his season...

Skinner is going to have a huge career here. I love how the kid plays.

Skinner is proving he CAN be elite. Dude is a top 6 guy and is proving it. He can be consistent, and he is proving it. The only thing holding him back is that he is made of glass. Dude needs to strengthen his neck (will help prevent concussions from the snap of getting hit) and just really, strengthen everything. No breaks. No tears. Maybe wear some better shoulder pads, if he can do it without sacrificing quickness.

The thing with Skinner, like most great hockey players, is that he needs to get into a rhythm. Once he finds his niche on the line and rips a few goals and assists, he gets confident and that makes him less tense when shooting, which leads to better hands. The guy is playing like Staal did early in his career. He reminds me a LOT of Evgeni Malkin due to his puck control and shooting ability and the way he can get the puck in dirty areas and create scoring chances off of it.

    • What a great position to be in.  We have so many WRs that can make the team.  What I love about this group is that several of them are physical beasts.  6'3" or more.   You have big WRs in the line up. Somewhere is going to be a mismatch.  I am interested in seeing what Meiga brings to the room.  A huge, long shot but like Coker he is big and just never really caught on in college.  You never know.  Maybe he shows enough to make the PS.  I am also interested in seeing what Horn does.  Hopefully, he finds some footing with this team.  I hope that with a year under his belt he steps up and really puts DM in a posiion to make a hard choice.   Moore has never really been one of my favorites but he seems to have Canales in his back pocket.
    • And honestly, for me (while keeping it all in perspective within this context of course), a fun Sunday is when the Panthers win, a not-so-fun Sunday is when they lose.
    • Yeah, I thought the whole purpose was based upon reputation, not betting. Pie actually serves a purpose, and now it seems like it's being watered down to meaningless. Some other form of "rep" for being able to guess and bet if that's your cup of tea alongside our traditional pie would have been better in my opinion.
