NOW CONFIRMED? Harbaugh Inviting Ric Flair For Speech Was Shot Across The Bow, A Week In Advance...

Usually no. To be honest, I quit watching wrestling in high school when The Rock left. Regardless, as a kid, I thought Ric Flair was one of the corniest, lamest, and least charismatic wrestlers ever. You can ask any of my friends. He just annoyed the crap out of me. So, I never got the obsession our local teams have had with him. The "woo!" thing seemed pretty universally appealing, but other than that, I just didn't get it.

But, seeing as how our team and fanbase basically adopted the dude as a mascot, this was some pretty shady poo. I mean, he was probably cool with several of our players by association because of it... DLo, for instance is a huge wrestling fan. Then you have Flair tweeting us congrats and shouting out Smitty.

It was by design man. Harbaugh is just such a slimy, grimy, shady piece of poo that he'll look for any and every single thing that he thinks he can use for an edge, and this was one of those things.

This is literally like a wrestling storyline for you. Good guy goes bad. Turns his back on friends and fans. The guy is a Vikings fan. His association with the Panthers was for money. We ended it because he trashes hotel rooms and drives drunk all the time. He probably got offered a few bucks and took it.

Hilarious.

Good stuff KP.

As I said, to be honest, I didn't even know how recently we had "used him." I thought it was all fairly recent.

This thread was actually meant to be somewhat in jest, and your storyline makes it epic lol.

    • yeah, now it's going to get awkward.  The team circles pay attention to all this stuff.  All the wives and girlfriends see the posts.  They all talk like everyone.  Football is just a normal world outside of the fact they play a game for lots of money.  Gossip travels. They know the Theilen's want out at this point.  Carolina is now the disappointed failed trade location.    So now AT takes sort of an inhouse hit in Carolina IMO
    • Ummm... The dude looked like he was about 180 pounds soaking wet with us (I don't care what his listed weight was/is) - he would have been destroyed in the run game even more than our current and past crappy ILBs. The problem is we primarily play 3-4 or nickel/dime - there is little room on the field for him because he isnt an edge LB blitzer and he can't cover for crap. The only thing he can do kind of well is be an in-the-box safety that can try and beat blockers to the spot because of his athleticism. Washington was able to make him work last year because they used him solely as an in-the-box safety and almost exclusively ran a single high FS. The funny thing is they had good yards/game stats against the pass despite most of their secondary having embarrassingly low PFF grades. Washington was also terrible against the run, which might explain why they gave up so few yards passing.
    • Just get the deal done. We've teased it so much that the Thielen's expect it. Now we run the risk of our veteran WR locker room presence becoming disgruntled. Just take what we can get, make him happy, and get future assets while freeing up snaps for guys who will be here beyond this season.
