Even outsiders noted the officiating

Yeah, I'm a niners fan and I thought there were a couple of bad flags. The after the play on mitchell wasn't much of anything. But we had the roughing the passer in second half that wasn't a penalty, but they called it

Game was over by then, the damage had been done.  I would never expect a head-butting penalty to be called really ever, or push for them, but after we got flagged for that, I can recall four instances where the favor should have been returned.  The 12 man in huddle was ridiculous as well.  We played like crap second half so it really doesnt matter but the circumstances should have been completely different.

And they called it even though Cam himself is the one who caused the helmet to helmet contact.

It doesn't matter who "caused it." Learn the rules. You can't hit a quarterback's head in the tackle box, period, end of story. It's a penalty 100% of the time.

So what you're saying is all a QB has to do when he's about to get sacked is to place is own helmet in the path of the defender's helmet? Just bend his knees slighly to create the contact?

Sure, if the penalty is worth a concussion.

No, because he was in the pocket about to get hit in the back, and then he turns around to get away from the rush and pretty much collides head to head with skuta. What the hell is he supposed to do? I would say Cam was a runner after he decided to spin around and try to get out of the pocket.

your dude led with his helmet. should be a penalty regardless of head to head. Also, I agree that the Boldin one wasn't a big deal but the refs had already set precedence against the panthers earlier.

bottom line is this game would have been much closer b/c the penalties let to 13 points and should have been 3. The whole psyche of the game would have been different.

In the end though, the Panthers shoot themselves in the foot a couple of times that would have made this argument moot.

Guest shitposting

As far as I'm concerned this is the second time the Panthers have been cheated out of their potential. Though I guess the NFL values HOF bound head coaches and fairytale narratives opposed to sportsmanship and competition.

This is a false notion.

Newton, was still behind the line of scrimmage; therefore he was not a runner as  you and others are erroneously suggesting.

You mean you never seen a QB spin, turn, or change direction behind the LOS and complete a pass downfield??

Are you suggesting it was incidental? Nonetheless, it was head to head. Come on now.

some people really are just ignorant.  I never once said he was a runner, I know he wasn't, I'm saying the penalty shouldn't have been called, Newton caused it himself... was it a "helmet to helmet" hit..?  yes... was it the kind that should draw a penalty?  no, but we got one.  end of story

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
