Give Richie Incognito a shot?

Kicked out of Nebraska...

First pro team didn't want him back...

Sexual harassment / battery allegations...

Known to use racist language...

Known to be a locker room headache...

Widely despised in the league...

Plays a position where chemistry with teammates is important...

Would never fit in with current Panther linemen...

Hell no.

Exactly. No way would I want Richie Incognito,a proven slime ball on the Panthers. I can't believe any level headed fan would want him with all the baggage he has carried with him for years.

It most definitely could, and quite a bit...

You must've missed the first part of my comment. It couldn't hurt from a pure football standpoint. It could NOT hurt our o-line or our cap space to sign him if he came cheap..

The game doesn't exist in a vacuum.  It's played in the real world.  That means you can't just put these guys out on the field and ignore what's going to happen in the locker room.

Put another way, you can't sign the "talent" without the headache. And "headache" is a pretty mild word for Incognito.  "Cancer" would actually be more appropriate.  And the talent in this case is overrated.

It doesn't matter how you spin it or what terms you couch it in.  It's a terrible idea.

I saw your other post about it where you quoted a fake exchange between the players and Dave if they signed Incognito and I agree with you about that. I don't know much about Incognito, but I do know that many black players on the Dolphins support him and are tight with him. Yes, he could be a headache and it could hurt us in that aspect, but he wouldn't be signed if that were the case, and that would be determined before signing him. He's gotten along with a lot of players, he could certainly have a possibility of fitting into our team. Remember the whole Riley Cooper deal before this season, and then Vick and McCoy and others came out supporting him? Then he ended up producing. I said it couldn't hurt from a pure talent standpoint, and that is the truth. Like I said though I don't know a lot about Incognito. Of course we wouldn't sign him if he wouldn't fit into the locker room, but if he would possibly (which could be determined) then I say it couldn't hurt to give him a chance. I DON'T think we should though (as I said in my first post), because of the whole media frenzy it'd create and also we don't sign guys like this, and I don't even think we need a lot of o-line help.

And sometimes you need to accept the headache to get the talent... Look at the Patriots trading for Talib. He created a lot of headache for the Bucs and even some for the Patriots (against us when Smitty put him in his right place) but there is absolutely no doubt that he helped them out a shitload (think Saints game, Jimmy Graham, 0 rec, 0 yards). Sometimes the headache outweighs the upside, but sometimes it doesn't, that's all I'm saying.

    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
    • Am I the only one who doesn't understand this fan bases infatuation with adding a high end TE? Especially when we have some bigger bodies in T-Mac and Coker who can slide into the slot at times and provide the big dependable target over the middle that most teams use their TE for. I mean, sure, it would be nice to have one of those elite TE's, but I feel like that's a position your better off going cheap with a committee who each bring something different to the table while spending our cap room on the more important positions. I like the potential we saw from Evans this year, Sanders could be a best if he can stay healthy, and Tremble has improved as well.  Just feels like spending high draft picks or cap space on other needs and more important positions is a better use of our resources than splashing on a TE in the draft or FA. Are those guys on the level of the Bowers or McBride's of the world?  Of course not, but we also are paying a fraction of the cost on our TE room than they are, and we're able to use that money for other needs.
