Riley Cooper would you want him

as far as off the field issues, the only thing that would matter is how the locker room would react.  Nothing else really matters.  Fans didn't stop watching Vick after killing dogs (I mean after the 2 years of prison), and they certainly wouldn't boycott the Panthers if Cooper struck a deal.

"Off the field things", lol like all he did was smoke some pot or something. Spin away CarolinaCoolin.

Smh. I've been calling it an off the field issue the whole thread and one time I get lazy and say thing you try to jump on it. Sign of a weak argument.

So I guess you aren't linking that article of him asking for people to make excuses for him them? Cause you seem to be avoiding it TheRed.

It's sad that a grown man needs people to make so many excuses for such behavior, and actions that he himself is responsible for.

I'm not seeing where I said he was asking for anyone to make excuses for him.

Is that the best you have?

Keep deflecting, we wouldn't want you to have to admit your buddy Riley Cooper is a racist.

Was it still a big media circus later on in the season for the eagles or did it kinda blow over?

it's just an element of potential drama that i'd rather the team not have to deal with.

there are other options without that baggage. if the players were 100% ok with it, then i'd be fine. i just don't know that i'd put too much effort into seeing if he's a fit.

as far as a media circus....had the eagles gone to the NFCCG or even on to the superbowl, you better believe that the media would have made a big deal about it. they thrive on ripping the scab off wounds just to get ratings.

it could have been a one time deal brought on by way too much alcohol and he might have learned his lesson, i just don't know that he's worth the effort of bringing in.

Just gonna throw it outhere as a I'm bored Saturday question, out of all the free agents listed to help the offense, little has been mentioned about Riley Cooper, ok I guess the whole racism stuff will put a few fans off and maybe some outthere question his talent, looking at the list of possible free agents it's difficult to see who would come in and take lafells spot as a genuine number #2, as small as his hands were for a receiver and the critical drops he made at times, plus the lack of desire and motivation to want to become Steve Smith replacement as the panthers #1, lafell still put up pretty good numbers and his blocking was very important to our game, we will need a viable option to replace him, and there only seems a small list of possibles, Nicks, Sanders, Burleson, Maclin and Cooper, with Victor Cruz asking for Nicks to comeback and Nicks saying he wants to stay in NY, I see it as a doubtful move at present he comes back to Charlotte, the jets are apparently in the frame for Sanders and Maclin according to nfl.com, although Maclin wants to stay in Philly and it's reported they want him to stay as a discount and he proves he's over his injury, Burleson could be an option but his age puts me off, so I turn to Cooper, would you guys like him in Charlotte as a legit #2 weapon for Cam, he did seem to play well in Philly even with all the the off-field drama surrounding him, seems a steady player good hands, big physical guy who I think Cam could hook up with, I still see us drafting a receiver too but somebody with experience and be ready to go from day one is needed aswell as young talent. So opinions??.

Yes, his contract wouldn't be that big and he was beasting last season, He would bring back Cam's deep ball, Cam has learned to move the chains with short & intermediate throws and the ability to have long drives , but we need to get his deep ball back to put up points and make our offense even more dynamic.

Cooper is slow and would add nothing to the deep ball. He's the same speed as LaFell. Basically the same receiver with worse hands.

What he said was definitely wrong and he paid the price. With that being said I know when your around the guys/locker room/crazy setting you say some pretty stupid stuff. I don't honestly think he is a white supremacist where he just flats out hates blacks. He just said some stupid stuff and someone recorded it.

Give the man a break. He is not a terrible person. Just said some stupid stuff.

Now judge him as a football player. If he comes relatively cheap then he would be an upgrade over Lafell

Vick is still a very polarizing player. Let's not pretend like he is unanimously liked throughout the NFL, and amongst all fans.

huh?  so you're saying Vick is now a locker room problem?  And that it's at all relevant to attain such a feat as being unanimously liked throughout the NFL?
