Guess who got 16 reps on the bench press today

top dawg

It was somewhat amazing that this little guy got so many reps.  If you look at him, you'd probably say "naaaahhh!"  I was expecting big Benjamin to get more than he got (which I believe was 12).  Brandon Coleman got 21, as did Jordan Matthews. Cody Latimer was the top at 23. Jeff Janis and Mike Campanro got 20, and Martavis Bryant and Sammy Watkins tied with Cooks.

We need a guy who can go up, and get the ball. Stop looking for the next Steve Smith. Too many Marty Hurney's here.

That's just fuging stupid. Cooks is on his way to cementing a first round grade and perhaps is a nice surprise coming out of the NFL Combine. Smith ain't got poo to do with it.

BTW, Smith was a total surprise. We got fuging lucky.

It's great to be enamored with a player, but we are unlikely to be able to draft him anyway, and Cam Newton needs a bigger target.

I'm not enamored with anyone. Like I have said before, I will be good with whomever G-man picks. Furthermore, Cam needs play-makers---no matter the size. That's what Cam needs: play-makers!

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
