Bill Voth claims Jordan Gross is done

This is tough. I wish we had more draft picks. There are plenty of good Oline and WRs out there but we can only count on 1 pick having great options and a 2nd pick having above average options. Do we draft a Tackle at 28 and look at a Moncreif level receiver in the 2nd? If Gross does not return we really need to replace both Tackles. That means drafting one and bringing in a veteran. It would not surprise me if Amini Silatolu gets a look at Left Tackle.

If you wanted a first round WR, start clearing that hope out if your head now. It'll be double dip o-line with some project WR in later rounds.

Not a chance! By time we pick at #28 there won't be a first round graded OT to pick from! As we aren't going to reach for Morgan Moses even with just a -7 calculation. BPA won't be OT no matter what at #28, second round yes! FA pick up at LT will be likely now.

This sucks, but it was going to either happen this year, or the next. I'm happy for him, if that's what's best for him, and his family.

IMO it's now even more imperative to keep Steve Smith around for at least another season or two, work something out with him on his contract. Losing two players in one offseason who have meant so much to this franchise over the years would be too much of a void in our locker room.

Everybody ran their mouth & said how old & shitty he was...

Looks like you're getting your wish idiots

youre an idiot, he was graded out as the 7th best OT (or around there) in the entire league. No one thought he was a liability, he is old though thats a fact.

Hes a stud and its going to be a huge loss.

Free agency and draft is filled with OTs. I expect us to nub 2 tackles in free agency and go all out in draft for WR. That's the reason we keeping Smitty and paying him crazy money. He's gonna be a mentor.

And there it is.... Everyone thinks we're clearing space for Hardy when in reality we could be clearing space for a Tackle or at least O-line help.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
